Okay, so Kaci is ready for the Social Studies test tomorrow but Keenan forgot. Alexis passed the home school test and is allowed to move on to the second grade. That little girl is a genius because I seriously thought she was leaving kindergarten. Lol.

Keenan lied to his parents and left with them to go get ice cream instead of studying for this test like he should have.

Wow… that is one tall Asian man. He is cute. So this brother and sister team come in to Carla to have their mother mentally accessed so that hey can have control over her estate. I have a feeling that they just want to get their mother’s money. Read the rest of this entry »

Episode 5: Competitive Spirit

Take 2 in 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, #ReedBtwnLines

Bwhahahahaha.

I love how the actress they picked to play Alexis really does look like she could be the offspring of Malcolm and Tracee. And the twins do look fraternal, and could be Tracee’s kids. Kudos to the casting director(s).

Keenan wants to run for class president…and why is it that the twins come off as ditsy? How stupid must their father have been, because these twins lack basic intelligence? Or are they just portraying the stereotypical teen? I need for one of them to be actively intelligent. Read the rest of this entry »

Reed Between the Lines ~ To Thine Own Self…

In Take 2: Film/TV Reviews on 18 October 2011 at 11:32 pm

The Cast

106 & Park (11Oct11)

Episode 1: Good Enough For Me

Episode 2: Big Girl TIme

Episode 3: Anger Management

Episode 4: To Thine Own Self

Okay, I am literally running in from the Howard University Poetry Cipher event with Talib Kweli. But I made it in time for the second episode. Will go back and catch the second episode.

Take 2 in 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, #ReedBtwnLines

Okay, after watching last week’s episodes I have decided that I like this show. No, scratch that…. I LOVE THIS SHOW! I think that the chemistry between Tracee and Malcolm is spot on. They are a believable television couple. It is so funny to see both of them as parents when we have never seen them as parents before. I also find it hilarious that Malcolm’s real life girlfriend ( Regina King) and his television wife (Tracee Ellis Ross) are hosting the Black Girls Rock. Lol.

So Kaci wants to be an actress. And she is into Blake Thomas this episode. Wasn’t she into Dylan last episode? Do girls really switch their likes this much? I wasn’t like that. Congrats, she got the lead. So Keenan and Kaci’s last name is Reynolds? The plot thickens? Read the rest of this entry »

Reed Between the Lines ~ Anger Management

In Take 2: Film/TV Reviews on 18 October 2011 at 11:27 pm

The Cast

106 & Park (11Oct11)

Episode 1: Good Enough For Me

Episode 2: Big Girl TIme

Episode 3: Anger Management

Episode 4: To Thine Own Self….

It is so past my bedtime, but I caught the first episode of tonight on the second go ’round.

Take 2 in 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, #ReedBtwnLines

Oh my Lord…. Keenan is going to pop a vein in his chest lifting these thin weights. This shirt is sagging on him. How do you sag in a wife beater? The last time I saw that Snoop Dogg was in Baby Boy.

I love how the Reeds are so attracted to one another. I think that more couples need to be this affectionate. I think it is realistic and obtainable. They are hilarious and so adorable!!!! I love it!!! I want my marriage to be like theirs, but the first time around…and not on my second marriage…lol.

Alexis is cute. She has a huge future ahead of her. Can we please turn her into the next Raven Simone? I want to keep her off sex tapes and from acting an ass at Spellman. What? I didn’t say either name, but you were sure as hell thinking it. Read the rest of this entry »

Reed Between the Lines ~ Big Girl Time

In Take 2: Film/TV Reviews on 11 October 2011 at 11:28 pm

The Cast

106 & Park (11Oct11)

Episode 1: Good Enough For Me

Episode 2: Big Girl TIme

Just when we thought there was only one show or an hour long episode… they pop up with two different episodes!!!! It feels like Christmas!

Take 2 in 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, #ReedBtwnLines

So this is the first time that the parents have the house to themselves.  Oh Lord! Keenan looked like he was about to fart when he tried to flex his Jake from Twilight look. And Kaci is Bella after Edward left? Bwhahahaha. Comedy!

THE GAME SNEAK PEEK! Okay, so Brandy, DeRay and others are all showing up. Oh Lord…. I CANT WAIT TIL JANUARY!!!! That is so not fair! Why are they making us wait so damn long?! And why does it look like movie quality? I don’t care… just as long as it comes back… lol.

So Alexis was supposed to be at a slumber party but she came home early. She was having trouble getting along with the other girls. It was her first sleepover and she ruled! Lol.

The sandwich guy is cute… now if I could JUST remember his name… like the actor who plays him. Lol. I’m confused, was Helen wearing a wig in the last episode? Now her hair is short. You guys know that I notice EVERYTHING!

So Carla is wondering if Peter, the father who brought Alexis home from the sleepover, is right about Alexis being spoiled. Alex is fighting the idea that Peter could be right. Wait, Alexis was homeschooled? WOW!  Bwhahahaha Alex caters to Alexis. Read the rest of this entry »

Reed Between the Lines ~ Good Enough for Me

In Take 2: Film/TV Reviews on 11 October 2011 at 10:35 pm

The Cast

106 & Park (11Oct11)

Episode 1: Good Enough For Me

I think that we have waited long enough. Without further adieu……

Take 2 in 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, #ReedBtwnLines

I am LOVING the set. Bwhahahaha Not Chauncey, the personal chef…lol. It is Role Play night.  I am already laughing. I thank this.

So Dr. Alex teaches online? Interesting. So Kaci likes some boy named Dylan and wants to move. Dr. Carla tried to use reverse psychology on Kaci but it almost worked.  And I already like Alexis. She made her mom pay to get the keys she left in the front door.

The intro into the show is generic and doesn’t jump out at me. There is no catchy theme song that will make me sing it when I am in my car. Disappointed.

Helen (Anna Marie Horsford) is going out on a blind date with a real blind man…lol. Gabby ( Melissa de Sousa) works in the same office as Dr. Carla. So is she a doctor too? Helen is the receptionist for both of them? Oh, Gabby is an acupuncturist. Wow! I would have fired Helen for her commentary…lol.

Dominique Edmonds (Robin Givens) makes her appearance as one of Dr. Carla’s patients. Dominique has some issues….lol. WHOA! She is a sexaholic. I think that Dominique is being played over the top. The trick to playing and over the top person is to underplay them. But this is just my opinion. Read the rest of this entry »

Reed Between the Lines ~ The Cast

In Take 2: Film/TV Reviews on 11 October 2011 at 2:00 pm

The Cast

Episode 1

So, I know we have all been sitting on the edge of our seat for the BET fall line up to finally come. Well, TONIGHT, it will finally be here.

To me, and this is just my opinion, it looks like a modern Cosby Show. Now don’t get me wrong, that is NOT a bad thing. I actually wish it the same success and longevity that wrapped its arms around the Cosby Show.  It is just refreshing to see successful African Americans, married to each other, with wonderful kids, and a good plot surface back on television. And TRUST ME, I know better than to EVER IN MY LIFE call Malcolm-Jamal Warner….. Theo… no matter HOW TEMPTING it is. But I am wise enough to see the growth in his body of work & mature enough to see that he is more than just our favorite teenage heart-throb. It’s about high time we 80’s babies allow him to grow up and to grow up with him. Also, it is about time Tracee makes her way back on to the small screen on a regular basis. I dont know about you, but I missed her like a promiscuous teen mother misses her monthly. What? That last sentence was a bit much, wasn’t it? lol. but you catch my drift.

The commercials didn’t really tell us much about the family…but we know that there is one. Dr. Alex is an English professor, who works for NYU but works from home. Soooooo are they located in NYU, or are they in DC? I’m confused. (Keep Reading to figure out why I would assume that they are in Washington, DC.)  But not to be outdone or confused as a hoodrat wife, Dr. Carla is a psychologist.  To round out this too-good-to-be-true parental match are the beautiful children Kaci, Keenan, and Alexis who have the BEST NATURAL LOCKS ON TELEVISION TODAY! I think we may chalk this up to be the FIRST all-natural hair, African American family to ever hit TV!!!!!!! One for the EVO crew. (Watch all creamy crackheads try to figure out what EVO means….lol.)
