Last week was out of this world! The contestants hit the ground running as if their lives depended on it. Now, this week…. they better do the same thing. If NOT… they will be going home tomorrow night. So, let’s see what they have in store for us tonight, shall we?

Take 2 in 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, #SYTYCD ?

Is there a 20s theme going on tonight? I always try to guess via Cat’s outfit…lol. She looks amazing tonight. I still find it funny how the host of SYTYCD cant dance….lol. But she is a wonderful host.

Lil C, Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and guest, Kristin Chenowith are the judges for the night. I LOVE HER VOICE!!!!!! Every time I see her on television she cracks me up! Lil C is hilarious! Wait, what! Lil C is in the studio becoming a rapper?! LOVE IT!

The first group (Ryan, Clarice, Miranda, Sasha, Marko, Chris, Tadd & Mitchell) danced in a routine that was performed to Ray Charles‘ Hit the Road Jack choreographed by Tyce Diorio…. ummmm. I love the lights on the bottom of the chairs. The fellas look like the lead bartender in Burlesque with Christina Aguilera. The girls… ummm.. I’m trying to figure out what they look like to me. Whatever it i,s it is clashing with the fellas for me. I mean, they look amazing… but still. And the choreo is a little messy for me. I can’t tell if it is truly the choreo or if it is the execution. It is not as powerful as I think it was intended to be. I mean, the chairs as the weapons did read well for me. Again… they look fantastic, costume wise…..but yeh, the jury is still out on this routine for me.

So tonight they went down memory lane and find out when each one of these dancers performed their first dance piece. This is going to be funny to watch with home videos and pictures from their childhood.

Sasha was a tomboy and wanted to play sports. Her first performance she was a form in Thumbelina, and ever since that performance she doesn’t like frogs. Alexander’s first performance was at his 6th birthday party and it was a tribute to Lion King…lol. funny.

Together, Sasha & Alexander will be dancing Contemporary routine choreographed by Dee Caspary. The theme of this piece is that it is a love story revisited. Alexander has nothing and Sasha is the memory of what he lost. As he sits around the piano the piano keys are the keys to getting back what he has lost. Deep interpretation. Cary Brothers‘ Belong starts out with the piano keys and it helps set the stage for this piano on stage that Sasha and Alexander are performing around. I do, however, wish that Sasha’s dress were a different color and wasnt this tan color that matched the piano.  But their technique is beautiful. I almost wished that I could see this from one angle rather than the camera taking me all around. And WOW!!!! How spooky was it for Sasha to crawl back into the piano and have her hands come out and play the keys. WOW!!! That was a great concept.AMAZING!!!  Nigel said that they need to work in getting the audience to connect emotionally with their performance. Kristin is busy makin jokes while she gives her critique.          Caitlynn was a tomboy but her mother always made her dress up. In her first performance she was in this yellow outfit and she was doing a “duck dance”. Mitchell was a ham when he was little. He started dancing when he was 16 playing Leroy in Fame.

Together, Caitlynn & Mitchell will be dancing a Samba choreographed by Jean-Marc Genereux. Jean-Marc Genereux said that the Samba is all about the butt. Wham, bam, thank you ma’am! lol. He said turn your hips into speakers.  They hit the floor jamming to Alica Keys featuring Beyoncé’s Put it in a Love Song.  I am soooo distracted by Mitchell’s butt in these those pants. And the Beyoncé “O-Oh” pop ….Mitchell just straight up out popped Caitlynn…lol. I mean she looks fabulous. I just wish that Mitchell would pick up his foot work just a little. They have some pauses in their work which I wish they would trust each other just a little bit more and believe that their partner will be there without rushing. But overall is was a great routine when they weren’t rushing. Mary said that Caitlynn’s foot action was amazing! And she said that Mitchell looked powerful and he nailed it. Kristin proclaims, “Shut-The-Front-Door! Shut the back door, shut the side door, shut the garage door….”. Nigel said that Mitchell is the Chris Rock of SYTCD because he brings entertainment and his own style to the show.  So it is a commercial break right now and it just hit me…… I am waiting for a team to wow me. Not that these teams that have gone already did not do well, on the contrary they did amazing. They just didn’t dance for my vote. I watched it but I didn’t feel it. I’m looking for someone who will make my vote jump up and dial itself. Just saying.

Miranda was very opinionated as a kid. Her first performance was a tap dance routine. Cute. Robert always wanted to make people laugh as a kid. And he LOVE to play Michael Jackson. And his first performance was at a talent show where he played MJ.

 Together, Miranda & Robert will be dancing Broadway moves choreographed by Tyce Diorio.  The theme of this piece is that Miranda is a upperclass working girl….lol. And it is fast as I don’t know what. I mean, I am nervous like Tyce because they may not make it. And what is Robert is supposed to be? MY FAVORITE PLAY!!!! They are dancing to Sophisticated Ladies (1981 Soundtrack)  It Dont Mean a Thing if Aint Got that  Swing. Okay…. I am loving the song of course as VOICE blares through my veins… isn’t this Phyllis Hyman? I swear it sounds like her…. I can feel her voice in my soul so I refuse to even Google search it because I just know its her. But something in their performance is confusing me. I guess it would help if I knew what Robert’s character was supposed to be because Caitlynn looks  like she is from another genre of time but Robert didn’t look like he fit in the same era. I love how Kristin says that she approaches everything from a character’s standpoint. I agree because I need a character in order to understand it.  Lil C told Miranda ” with legs like that, who needs arms?” And he said something to Robert about the planets being aligned when he was born.YES!!!! Nigel mentioned how Robert reminded him of Cabin in the Sky and I agree. But now I have to figure out which character.  Melanie has always wanted to be a dancer. As her first performance she was doing a ballet tap routine playing Little Bo Peep. Marko was a spoiled brat as a kid. Dancing calmed him down. His first concert was a jazz hip hop when he was about 10.

Together, Melanie & Marko will be dancing Lyrical Hip Hop choreographed by the genius duo of Nappy Tab.  The theme is about two best friends and Marko gets left at the altar by the other woman. He then notices that the woman that he was supposed to love him has been in front of him the whole time…..Melanie. And every time he falls she is supposed to be there to catch him.How perfect for them to dance to Leona Lewis’ I Got You. I love the look of their costumes and how perfect NappyTabs always picks the perfect music. It is soooo cute the way that they use the end of the stage the way that they have. Of course I would never put anything past NappyTab. I mean they are amazing. And I am Loving the fall, pull back, glide across the stage and fall back that Marko did. GENIUS!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Marko and Melanie kissed!!!!! PERFECT!!! It has passion and it was beautiful at the same time!!!! I VOTE THIS FOR AN EMMY!!! Okay, These two get MY VOTE!!!!!! That is what I was talking about! They made me jump up and want to vote! And Yes, it was BUUUUUUUCK! Lil C called Marko and Melanie a set of “Swiss Army Knives”!! I concur whole heartedly!Nigel even mentions that he cannot judge them separately because they danced perfectly as a couple and that they are the COUPLE TO BEAT! I am beyond happy that they got paired together!!!  UUUUUUUUUGH!!!!! NIGEL KISSED MARY!!!!! Oh my goodness that was hard for us to watch!!! Cat said it was like walking in on your mom and dad…lol . Kristin said that we “sing because we can’t speak any more. Dance is the same because we can’t speak any more so we move.” Then Kristin gets up and kisses Lil C, and then Nigel gets up and pretends to kiss Lil C…. THIS IS HILARIOUS!!!!!! Entertainment people!  Ashley was really shy as a kid. She still looks the same. When she was 3 she performed in a red tu-tu with a shopping cart. Chris was full of energy as a kid and one of 7 kids. And his first performance was actually for poetry and not dance.

Together, Ashely & Chris will be dancing Jazz choreographed by Sonya Tayeh. I have mentioned that I am a Sonya Tayeh fanatic, right? The theme is almost like Beetlejuice and working with the other side of ourselves. It is creepy and I know it will be amazing as they hit the floor to Telepathe’s Lights Go Down (District 78 Remix). I mean this is something that would have been perfect for the remake of Thriller. Even though it is supposed to be jazz, it as a very contemporary feel to it. I love it. I mean the looks of the costume to the essence of the music. But then again… it is Sonya… what else was I suppose to expect. I just wish that they would put a little more energy into it. It seems as if they are tired and got up to perform. I mean, it looks good but it is sill missing….something. Nigel said that he didn’t connect with the music and he wanted the dancers to be more overt. He said that it came across as two people who were dancing with weird make-up on their faces. They should have delved more into the character. Kristin said that Ashley is her favorite person on the show. Lil C said that Ashley is like the sleeper cell on the show and needs to remain the silent assassin.  Clarice took every opportunity to make a performance. Her first performance was at two and a half in this red polka-dotted dress. Jess was a little crazy kid with the Nick Name called Jess the Mess. His first performance was him spending the entire time waving at his mom.

Together, Clarice & Jess will be dancing a Foxtrot  choreographed by Jean-Marc Genereux.  The theme is that the crooner will be working the room like a member of the Rat Pack. Instead of  singing he will be dancing. Jess had problem with his hand placement and it was starting to look messy.  Jess borrowed a tie from Jean-Marc during rehearsal and Jean-Marc said that it was Frank Sinatra’s. Well, not THE Frank Sinatra but there is this guy in his neighborhood named Francois and they call him Frank….lol. COMEDY!!! BRILLIANT!  Frank Sinatra’s Fly Me to the Moon  oozes out of the speakers to set the mood for this routine. I mean, I love the way that Clarice looks in this weight dress, astonishing. Of course this is right up Jess; alley. I just need them to mesh well as a couple. It is almost as if Clarice doesn’t trust Jess and as if Jess is afraid to like Clarice.  But this piece is well performed. I am missing the part of Jess being a singer, and the way that he ran back to the mic at the end…..eeeeh… I thought it could have been done better. You do notice that I didn’t mention anything about technique because I am not a Foxtrotter…lol. Kristin said that this was her favorite performance of the night. *Side eye*. Ricky was so into dance when he was little. In his first performance he forgot his routine and began a piece of his friend’s routine. lol. Ryan was 4 during a Shirley Temple routine and she was on point.

 

Together, Ricky & Ryan will be dancing Contemporary choreographed by Sonya Tayeh. They are playing a couple who are in love and it is ending but they don’t know why. It is a story of a fight to let go. They have to create a picture of struggle and pain and bravery. Ricky is going to think of his father who left him and his mother when he was younger. Ryan says that she has not been in love and she is going to connect with that. Robyn With Every HeartBeat (Acoustic) became the backdrop for this vulnerable dance piece. I am loving the costume pieces with the piece of fabric connecting them being incorporated into Ryan’s costume. I am honestly not feeling the struggle of the piece. I mean, their technique skills are beautiful but I wish that I could wipe this semi-smile off of Ryan’s face. I SAY THIS EVERY SINGLE FRIGGIN WEEK!!! Girl, get that smile off your face. I mean, their choreography was great, the execution and technique was there, but it was not really there for me. Okay, maybe I am hating… but it didn’t make me stand up and want to cry. I saw the potential there but it wasnt there for me as much as I would have liked. Lil C said that they, too, are a powerhouse couple in this competition.Buckness. *Side eye*.  Soooooo, I guess I will be voting for Melanie and Marko and no one else tonight. We have one group left and no one but my M&Ms have made me want to rewind my DVR once the show goes off and watch that performance. I think that this week is a conflict with beautiful choreography getting lost in translation. You can hate me if you want…. but last time I checked, you are on my blog reading my opinion. I know that these are amazing dancers, and I will NEVER deny that….but something is missing this week. I thought and felt the same thing last week. I think that they came out of the woodwork so hard the first week that my expectations were set extremely high. I hope that they can bring back that same excitement.

Jordan was a crazy kid who use to growl at people on the street. Her first dance performance was in first grade to the SPice Girls’ Spice Up Your Life. Tadd was a huge asian nerd with the bowl cut. His first performance was in a traditional Filipino cultural dance routines.

Together, Jordan & Tadd will be dancing a Hip Hop routine choreographed by the magically witty NappyTab.  The theme is that they had a weird night in college and they are in bed and they come to the conclusion that they are strangers in bed together. And they have to get dressed and I can’t wait!!! Jordan is not comfortable with this piece.How ironic since she always does the overtly sensual solo routines….lol. The wild college night is done to David Guetta featuring Kid Cudi’s Memories.  Hilarious! I loves how they actually got dressed and managed t dance at the same time. I am semi lost I mean, I get the theme of it all but I think that there are some strange pauses in the . I do, however, love the ending!!!! I mean I love the performance. I think that I wouldn’t have had the clothes be such an intricate part of the piece, I think it slowed them down in parts. Lil C said,  “I now know why Jordan wasnt answering my calls and texts last night. ” hahahahah Comedy. Lil C also advised that when you get down into a grove you have to dance all the way through the movement and down to the bone. Nigel said that the routine brought back so many memories. lol. He also said that the story of the dance overwhelmed the movement of the dance. Mary loved their stage presence. Kristin…… SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! She said that was a desert and she loved every bite.  The second group, composed of  Melanie, Ricky, Jordan, Alexander, Ashley, Robert, Caitlynn, & Jess, rehearsed a piece that is about a medieval setting where the women are seducing the men and then wind up poisoning them. If ou are not familiar with The  Civil Wars’ song Poison & Wine then I suggest you get to googling because it was the PERFECT back drop to this performance. It reminds me of the King of Naples’  Table of the Dead from The Borgias. This piece is gruesome and yet gorgeous at the same time. It is my definition of ugly beauty. The stacattoed gestures mixed with fluidity is impeccable and the music is shaking their techique’s hand and proposing marriage. It is deathly romantic. And I mean, the way that the girls gently placed the hands of the dead guys onto the poisonous cups at the end sent chills up my spine. I wish that we could vote for group pieces as well. I would vote for this piece over the first piece. BRILLIANT, Dee Caspary!!!! Just GENIUS!

Last night we saw an array of wonderful performances that made you stand in your livingroom and applaud. Unfortunately, tonight…. America has to choose which 2 guys and which 2 girls will be going home. If you remember, last week Nigel saved everyone…. so this week will be the end of the road for thos not chosen by home voters.

Nina Simone’s Sinnerman pops out of the speakers as they all look eerily close to Charlie Chaplin. It is funny to me hop you can point out a mistake easier the minute that you dress everyone the same. Now, I just want to know who put the Beyoncé “Uh oh” pop in the clap section in the middle…lo. This is a simple, yet complex piece in that everyone must stick to the 1 & 2 beats only….if that makes sense to my non-dancers. lol. Cute. Okay, so that was the genius of Dave Scott…..cute!

I love this dress that Cat has on…this semi-greek inspired draping, single shoulder, fitted dress. I need to pay attention to see who designed this dress. CUTE!!!

Once again the judges are Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and the legendary Debbie Reynolds.

I heard that the Rage Crew and LMFAO backed by QUEST, as well as Hawk & Ryan…..great performances

RESULTS TIME!!!!

First 3 Couples: Missy/Wadi danced the Jean-Marc Genereux Cha Cha to Ke$ha’s Cannibal and they will be the first group in the elimination round. Caitlyn/Mitchell danced the Stacey Tookey Contemporary routine to Adele’s Turning Tables ….and I will preface by saying that I will QUIT WATCHING THIS SHOW if they are nominated to be in the bottom. Also, I voted for them. So……AMERICA AND I KEPT THEM SAFE!!!!!! Sasha/Alexander danced a tear-evoking Nappy Tab Hip Hop routine to Dirty Money’s I’m Coming Home…..and they were the SECOND team that I voted for……. SO no worries, I already know that my vote counted. TOLD YOU SO!!!!! They’re moved on to the next week.

Nigel mentions that the winner of SYTYCD will receive $250,000 and talked about how Gatorade has the G-Series Fit  and now recognizes dancers as athletes. So the winner will get an opportunity to be apart of the G-Series ad campaign.(like Lauren and tWitch). So you will need to check out the Gatorade

Second 3 Couples: Miranda/Robert did the Nappy Tab “woodpecker” inspired Hip Hop routine to Busta Rhymes’ Break Ya Neck. Melanie/Marko performed a Mandy Moore Jazz routine to DKS’ Sing With a Swing . It was the one that confused me with the clashing outfits. But no matter how I felt about the outfit…. Miranda, Robert,Melanie, and Marko are ALL safe until next week!!!! Jordan/Tadd did a Viennese Watlz choreographed by Jean-Marc Genereux to David Cook’s Fade Into Me. I am still torn on it…..but the rest of America kept them safe.  Iveta/Nick performed a high paced Nakul dev Mahajan Bollywood piece to Luck By Chance’s Baawire. Twitter was going HARD on how Nick looked out of place…..and those tweeters and their comments may be the reason why Iveta and Nick are in the elimination round. 

Third 3 Couples: Ashely/Chris did the Spencer Liff jailhouse inspired Broadway routine to Rachel Swift’s Please,Mr. Jailer. Hot as it was, America is keeping them around for another week! Ryan/Rickey performed a Mandy Moore Jazz piece to Robert Palmer’s Addicted to Love. Janet Jackson inspired wardrobe malfunctions and all, America has suggested that they dance for their lives. Clarice/Jess hit the stage with a Stacey Tookey Contemporary piece performed to Jump Little Children’s Cathedrals. As awkward as it was to watch them as a couple America thinks that they should be saved and dance another day.

RAGE CREW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tiffany Burton Rowhouse choreographed to Colton B featuring Mauli B’s Party Like This. The outfits are phenomenal. I am even glad to see that even the younger girls are able to express their athletic skills. The little black girl in the front with the Afro is stealing the cameras attention. How old can she be? 9? My only thing would be is to but the younger girls in tank top versions of the swim suit, bra-like tops. And some of the moves did make the younger girls look a little mature, but the energy was high, the technique was there….and they knew how to pull the crowd in. I would not be surprised if in a few years a few of them will be on the stage performing for their own spotlight on the show. That was great.

Elimination Round:

I must be completely honest with you…… this group in the elimination round scares me. It is the combination of people that will make it tough for others. Like….. Wadi and Missy may be sacrificed to keep Iveta and Nick. (I am writing this during the second commercial so I have NO clue what will happen and I pray that I am wrong). Despite what I think, two guys and 2 girls will be going home today. So I guess I will keep all of my anxiety until they announce the 3rd couple.

Wadi: Wadi came out with a beat that all of us Hip Hop fans are familiar with Major Lazer featuring Vybz Kartel’s Pon De Floor. I just wished that he would have had just a little more technique, but the ending flip into a Indian-style seated position is great. Do they choreography their pieces because this appeared free-style. And you KNOW I am a Wadi fan… I just wished he did something a little more. Even Cat said, “Nice move at the END”.

Missy: CSS’ Move (Metronomony Rmx) is an interesting choice to dance for your life with on this show. If you’re going to do it… you better bring it; and she’s not bringing it. Her hair is distracting me as about as much as this outfit is. It was a lot of repetition and the outfit looked like a kindergarten dance recital. I don’t have much else to say about that. Oh, the leaps were beautiful!!! See, I found something nice to say.

Nick:  Performing to 3Oh 3 featuring Neon Hitch’s Follow Me Down he started out with a wonderful pirouette… and the way that he covered the stage and brought the crowd in was fabulous!!! I mean, I wish that he would have shown more technique than JUST tapping… but it was good.

Iveta: Performing to Gennaro’s Samba Rock, Iveta is HOTT!! And as usual…Iveta brings it! I mean… what else would you expect a champion to do. her outfit is on point,her moves are insatable….and her crowd appeal is off the charts. I have no doubt that she is staying. They can NOT send her home. I feel sorry for the other two girls now. I hate to say that, but it is true.

Rickey: Sleigh Bells’ Riot Rhythms . Yes, Rickey took the stage and made all of the hormones jump in the teenie-boppers.He brought it! I don’t know how to say it any other way than….that!He left his blood sweat and tears on that stage. I am proud of him. Now he can go home and hug himself with the Snuggie. Wait, is he the one with the zebra Snuggie? lol.

Ryan: Usher Moving Mountains I mean, she picked a power song, but she has this habit of smiling in the middle of ALL of her performances. I wish she would stop that. It is hard to focus on the emotion of the dance while it conflicts with emotion on the person’s face.Just saying. It could hurt her. *Sigh….* I think we maybe saying bye to her because Iveta KILLED it!

Okay.. LMFAO is up, and again this is not about the musical artist as this is about their dancers. I forgot what I was watching earlier this week when LMFAO performed this. And when she said that they would be backed by Quest… I didn’t know that she meant QUEST CREW from ABDC (America’s Best Dance Crew)!!!! Those are my boys!!!! I love the move where one of them does a flip and gets pushed over three of the other crew members…. HOTT!!!!!

It somewhat sucks that LMFAO rocked the house so well only to have us sit in anticipation to hear bad news. Only ONE girl and ONE guy out of the six will get to stay and dance next week. If it were up to me…. It would be Iveta and a tie between Ricky and Wadi. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING against Nick, I just think that Wadi and Ricky have the skill set to stay as well as the potential to grow and learn more. So in a way, I think that Nick is a fabulous dancer and has some things to learn but I dont think that he could grow as much as these two guys. Ugh… that sounds horrible… but I mean well. Okay, I feel like Simon Cowell and I swear that is not my attention. Ummm….shutting up now!

With the girls, the judges are unanimous. Nigel said that there was nothing in his dancing that he could find wrong. Iveta has graced the show with her talent and that we will always remember her. She deserves to be here. Ryan, Nigel doesnt think that she danced for her life. He thinks that there is more inside of her that we have yet to see and that she held back; that was NOT the best that she could do.

WHAT!!!!! Nigel is keeping RYAN RAMIREZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I eat all of my words rather humbly! CONGRATULATIONS, RYAN!!! No commentary… I will let her have her moment.

 Now the guys: Nigel says that he doesn’t think that Wadi has had an opportunity to show us what he has inside and he doesn’t think that he danced for his life. Nick, is believed to be a star. He has great rhythm and a twinkle in his eye that he needs in this business. Ricky danced the BEST that they have ever seen him dance when he danced for his life; he laid himself on the line and that is why they are KEEPING RICKY ON THE SHOW!!!!!!

There are no words to say how I feel about that. Ricky was one of my picks… my heart just goes out to Wadi and Nick. I don’t think it is fair because their fate has been spoken, but they were NOT up for elimination last week and I don’t think that they would have been up for elimination this week if someone would have had to go home last week. I tip my hat off to both of them. I know that we will see them again.

I was taking a well-deserved and long overdue nap when my alarm woke me up to blog. Trust me when I tell you…….you all better read this entry and LOVE IT!!!

Ummmmmm….sooooo before we can begin, we must see the President address the nation in regards to his plan to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan. Okay, so there is a 10 minute delay. SUCKS!!! I love events better than anyone…but isnt this is why we have the evening news? Why not do this at 7pm? Okay,I’ll stop complaining….part of this is that I just woke up and I am not stable enough to interpret politics. To prove this point…. every time the President says “Taliban” I start singing “Six Foot, Seven Foot…tally me banana…daylight come and me wan go home.” Yep, it’s that bad. He said “sovereign”…isnt that a word Bush couldn’t define? Okay…. I’ll stop my commentary… I have to type to stay awake though. But I am paying attention.

I just hope that SYTYCD isn’t already playing behind this. …..I would hate to miss a group. It wouldn’t be fair for America to judge on a group that we missed. What? I’m just saying. Well, at least my President still has a gangster walk.

Last week was out of this world! The contestants hit the ground running as if their lives depended on it. Now, this week…. they better do the same thing because for 2 guys and 2 girls… they will be going home tomorrow night. So, let’s see what they have in store for us tonight, shall we?

It is a must that I make a comment on Cat’s dress, since she is an intricate part of this show as well. It looks so innocent. So does she wear the innocent dresses on Wednesdays and then the club dresses on Thursdays? lol

Jordan , Tadd, Clarice, Jess, Sasha, Alexander, Caitlynn, Mitchell, Missy, Wadi, Ashley, Chris, Ryan, Ricky, Iveta, Nick, Miranda, Robert, Melanie, and Marko are ALL BACK!!!!!!

Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and Debbie Reynolds are the judges for the night. Pause for a moment… DEBBIE REYNOLDS!!!! I havent seen her in ages!!!!!! And she’s wearing my favorite color. And I love this clip of her in Singing in the Rain!!!! I wish my mother was watching because we are musical theatre fanatics!

This week they were to find out a secret about their dance partners. This will be interesting to say the least! Let the good times roll.

Ryan & Ricky: Ryan’s leg hair grows really fast….lmbo! Ricky’s real name is Roderrick and he hates it.Together, they’ll be dancing a Jazz routine choreographed by Mandy Moore.  The whole point of the routine is that they must have some passion and sexual tension filled routine. Even Mandy said that they are a little young in their life’s experiences to  begin with. They are performing to Robert Palmer’s Addicted to Love. Now, as the routine begins, I am loving the way that they look in these costumes. I don’t, however, think that the costumes go well with the song. I also wish that Ryan would stop smiling through the entire routine. I think that messed with the energy of the theme. It was supposed to be sexual. I mean, it was raunchy and teasing but it had moments where it paused and you were like ” did you forget something?”. And again, I’m not a judge so my opinion doesn’t count. I’m just glad that Ryan saved the “wardrobe malfunction”. lol. But they are very good dancers so I wish them the best!  So, after the first set of dancers…… the trend seems to be that they are keeping the same groups that they had last week. This can either hurt or help people. But….its time to dance for their life. Also, on a rewind…. Ryan only had a snag in her stocking near the crotch region…but I dont get the “top” wardrobe malfunction reference. *Rewind again* I think I almost saw something pop out on one of her turns….but nope….no good. She’s safe!

MAN!!! I was typing and missed the flash mob commercial. I will have to rewind and get the info for you.*Rewind* Oh snap, I thought that it was about the SYTYCD flash mob routine but nope… it is a new Fox television show. Caitlynn & Mitchell: Caitlynn wears some boots change her feet to this weird blue color. Okay, so Mitchell likes to wear a zebra print snuggie….lol. Stacy Tookey is choreographing a piece where the relationship is ending and Caitlynn is not ready for it to end. I am SOOOOO thankful that they are aware that they should be in tune with the emotion of the piece throughout. If you lose that emotion… we will not be there iw th you. They’re dancing to Adele’s Turning Tables. I am IN LOVE with this simple set design. Just brilliant.  The snatch and pull through that Mitchell did to Caitlynn was breathtaking. And the leap off the chair that Caitlynn did……. speechless. Okay. Someone is going to have to top this dance because it is my favorite one. The emotion is there and I LOVED IT!!!Yes, it is the second one… but I love this one. And the way that Mitchell turned off the light when he sat down at the end….. MAN!!!! That had the MOST amount of emotion in the tiniest bit of movement. And I am SOOOOO thankful that we got to see Mitchell dance this week,because he was missing due to an injury last week. And even though he just accidentally punched Caitlynn in the face during one of the moves, they had great chemistry. I’m going to have to rewind and see if I can find the moment where Caitlynn got hit.  They are performing to BLANK’s BLANK. I dont think you understand how odd it is to watch this show in real-time rather than fast forwarding on my DVR. lol. I have to type extremely fast. I mean, I’m a fast typer as it is…. but I only plan on watching this once…lol.  

Missy & Wadi: Wad,i apparently, uses lady hair removal cream on his chest because he likes a smooth chest. Missy laughs in segments. WHat I mean is, her laugh is choppy and comes to an abrupt stop. Think more along the lines of a teen learning how to drive a stick and the car scoots forward and then stops. LMBO!!!! Jean-Marc is teaching them a great ballroom Cha-Cha routine. This Cha ha is supposedly the hardest that Jean-Marc Genereux has done for the show. LMBO! Jean-Marc told Wadi to sway his hips as if he is “selling the product” lol. Perfect! Ke$sha’s Cannibal fits the costume of the routine. Unfortunately…I have no clue if there is a theme to this routine other than the fact that it is a Cha Cha. And Yes, you can tell that Wadi is out of his element just a bit…. but what he lacks in foot technique he makes up in strength and lifts & attitude. The routine, overall, was pretty good.I give them a B for effort. Even Nigel agreed with mewhen it came to Technique versus strength. I know that Wadi will grow…he is a fast learner. Man, Nigel was hard on Wadi and praised Missy. I LOVE Debbie, she said that she will take Wadi home, because she could see that everyone was being hard on him. Iveta & Nick:  Iveta talks to herself whenever she walks past a mirror. Nick always wears shorts. hahahah Iveta said that Nick Has chicken legs. Together, they will be dancing a Bollywood routine choreographed by Nakul dev Mahajan. Luck By Chance (soundtrack)’s Baawire pulls you in to the routine. I must say that I am LOVING Iveta’s energy for this routine. It is not really her style but she is bringing the sensual side of it. Nick is keeping up with Iveta. But Iveta is the star of this routine. She is gorgeous too. The horizontal pirouette combination that they did scared me because it looked like Nick didnt place his hands in the right place. Miranda & Robert: Miranda She has a little crush on Tadd! PERFECT!!!!. Robert still thinks that he is a pro wrestler! hahahahaha . They will be performing a Nappy Tab ( @NappyTab if you’re on Twitter) Hip Hop routine. If you know ANYTHING about Nappy Tab, then you already know that this is about to be a HOT routine, one that will be right up Robert’s alley. So they are supposed to be woodpeckers and Robert is trying to teach Miranda how to fly. Do woodpeckers fly? Busta Rhymes’ Break Ya Neck fits the ENTIRE woodpecker theme so well. But of course I wouldn’t expect anything less from Nappy Tans.  Okay, like I said, this is right up Robert’s alley, but Miranda is having a little proooooooob….ummm. The lift with the foot kick didn’t read. Her backflip scared the mess out of me and made me think that she really was going to break her neck. And was the fall forward suppose to happen? Um. I am sooo confused. Like I said that it was for Robert, but not so much for Miranda. She did a good job, but she needs to grow. CLASSIC!!!! Debbie Reynolds did Woody Woodpecker!!!!!! But my hats off to Nappy Tabs, as usual. But I wouldn’t expect any less from them. Clarice & Jess:  Clarice sleeps with her eyes open. Jess draws stick figured orchestra portraits…lol. They will be performing a Contemporary routine choreographed by Stacey Tookey. The theme is that Jess is a prince and Clarice is marrying into royalty. And these lifts have me praying for Clarice’s life!!! Jess needs to go to the gym with Wadi! lol. Jump Little Children’s Cathedrals is an amazing song. I think that I forgot to type because I was looking for these lifts. So far so good! The leap & catch was fabulous. unfortunately I don’t think that Jess’ costume looks like he is a prince….more like a security guard. I am confused.I cannot figure out if they pulled me in or if I was just watched because I wanted to see the lifts. Ahhhh ha! Nigel said it best, they didn’t look right as a couple. Jordan & Tadd: Jordan isnt the brightest crayon in the box. What? I didnt say it… Tadd said it. Tadd is rather OCD. How can a b-boy be OCD? The VIENNESE WALTZ!!!! SO this routine will be choreographed by Jean-Marc Genereux.Do you all remember when twitch, from Season 4, got the Viennese Waltz with Kherrington?  He said something like, “I’ve never met the Viennese but I’m sure they’re very nice people.” bwahahahahaha. Every time I hear the Viennese Waltz I laugh because of that.  The PeeWee Playhouse word of the say is “SPACE”. lol.  David Cook’s Fade Into Me is a rather ironic song choice since there is supposed to be “space” between each other. lol. Umm… I am watching this and I am not sure that this is a safe genre for either of them. is that wrong of me to say? I really like the both of them, but it was not good. Okay… all of it didn’t bad, but it had its moments. I agree with Nigel, Jordan’s arabesque was fantastic and so was Tadd’s portabra.  But it was beautiful in the overall scheme of things. Okay, this is random, but in all seriousness….at what point can you blame the choreographer for horrible choreography? Sometimes I see some of these routines and I go, “poor dancer…they set you up to fail.” lol.I dont always think that it is the dancer’s fault. At SOME point the choreographer has to take responsibility that their choice in movement didn’t translate well. Also,not all of these choreographers have themes.What’s upwith that? I am going to start a poll to see which routines do better, the ones with or without a known theme. That’s it…..just had to rant for a moment.

P.S. No one has convinced me to vote for them instead of Caitlynn and Mitchell. So…… with 3 teams left, that looks like who I may vote for.

Melanie & Marko:  Melanie has a BIG issue with people touching her ears. lol. Marko loves to read romance novels. Mandy Moore will spice up the TV with a Jazz routine. So they are supposed to be cool kids. And they have this hat and they are supposed to control the hat and not let the hat control them. One thing that I credit to Mandy is that she is the most DETAILED with her routines. You know what she wants and it comes DKS’s Sing with a Swing  is a fun song. I love Melanie’s look. She has this transformable look that allows her to fit into any genre of dance and I love it. I do, however think that there is a disconnect between Melanie and Marko’s outfits. The disco strobing effect is hurting myeyes.I didnt see the purpose of the hats other than the song & genre of dance…. but it was still fun to watch. Their technique was on point and so that was not a question. The Split leap & catch was fabulous. I love this team together. Nope….. still sticking with Caitlynn & Mitchell. I think that last week was SOOOOOOO HOTTTTT that we got our hopes up and this week I think we expected more instead of realizing it is just the second week. Not to say that everyone is doing horribly… I just think that the combination of talent and choreographers made last week so much more energetic and this week’s show is filled with a strange combination of songs and genres. But….its just my opinion,right?

Sasha & Alexander:  Sasha sweats like a dude…..lmbo!!!! Alexander loves to look at himself in the mirror. lol. YES!!!! Nappy Tabs is choreographing a topical routine where Alexander is a soldier coming back from Afghanistan and seeing his wife for the first time. And with Napoleon having been in the military…they must connect to the emotion. Dirty Money’s I’m Coming Home is a perfect choice for this!!!!!!!! Yes, If you noticed….. I refuse to call them Diddy-Dirty Money…lol. This isnt Gladys Knight and the Pips! Back to the routine…. LOVING IT!!! And Alexander’s march at the beginning spoke volumes. Who knew that Hip Hop could bring forth that much emotion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE NAPPY TAB and the talent of this team. I mean how poignant for them to do this and the President just spoke about bringing home 30 thousand troops from Afghanistan. I take back all of my comments I said about the address to the nation. I was tired… but the universe wanted to prepare us for this routine and I wasn’t awake yet to receive the message. I’m awake now. *STANDING OVATION* Fabulous. I think that they did a wonderful job. My only critique would be to omit the tap on the shoulder to signify that Alexander was behind Sasha; it telegraphed. I mean, this routine brought tears to me as well as the judges. I think that this should get an Emmy Nomination. I love it when Nigel says what I have already said….lol. I am sooooo torn I can vote for 2 teams, right? My vote, as of now, is for Caitlynn * Mitchell as well as Alexander *Sasha!!!! Thankfully, I have unlimited text messaging!!! lol. Also, I have discovered that Sasha’s twitter is @D8Sasha & SashaMallory.  & Nick’s is @D8Nick….. I think I see a trend…lol. Yep… put @D8 in front of anyone’s name and that is their temporary twitter name: ex…. @D8Ashley , @D8Jess , @D8Marko , etc.

Ashely & Chris:  When chris gets nervous he does this creepy smile. Ashley thinks that she has swag but she doesnt. lol.  Spencer Lift will be teaching them a Broadway number. Cool, they have to dance with bars between them. Supposedly, there is suppose to be sexual tension because I think that Chris is in jail. hahahaha. Chris said that Ashley is hot but Ashley said that she cant think of Chris as sexy….lol. Funny. Rachel Swift’s Please, Mr. Jailer is soooo apprpriate. Ashley’s red dress circa the 40s or 50s is soooooo HOTT!!! She looks beautiful. I mean, thankfully, the cameras can give us a panoramic view of the routine, but I dont think that the audience got a good shot at the routine like we at home did. I wish that it were on a rotating stage. But it drew me in and made me watch. I wish that it was something that the in-house crowd could have seen from every angle. CREEPY!!! I am front and center preparing to watch a phenomenal show! I think I heard Keri Hilson is supposed to be on the show tonight? Yeh… let’s get the show on the road

 Take 2 in 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, #SYTYCD ?

As I prepare my DVR for tonight’s show, I noticed that I still have my favorite clips from Season 4 saved. I wonder when I will delete them. Scenes like, Josh dancing to Mario’s Boom! with a Frankenstein theme, tWitch and Katy doing the breakup routine with the door, tWitch dancing the bed scene routine birthed from the genius of Mia Michaels, and many more are just SOME of my favorite highlights from that season. I even have LL Cool J executing the iconic Season 4 shoulder gesture. Just priceless! I think they can stay on my DVR…they’re not hurting anyone. Besides, I’m proud that I still have them.

Oh yeh… Season 8…..lol.

The entire team, in all black, open up to M.I.A’s XR2!!!!! PHENOMENAL!!! I must tell you that I want the costumes that the girls have on because they are classy, avant guard, and yet sexy. And, it was brilliant for them to put Sasha front and center.  I am in LOVE with this routine. Now… who choreographed this~>?! I am typing in real-time. And I must say that if I had better words to type to you while my eyes are on the screen as my fingers move, I promise I would be more articulate… but this is all that I have! I mean… even the mime-like spring bounce at the conclusion of the routine was on point!SANYA TAYEH!!!! I should have known that dance had “her” written all over it and I was illiterate in the face of its brilliance.

I am however shocked by the somewhat disheveled look of Megan Mullally tonight. And Nigel is discussing National Dance Day which is July 30th. They are placing 3 dances online and everyone will be able to do flash mobs all across the world.  I will partake in it this year. Last year I went down to the National Mall here in D.C. and got to see Nigel. Fab! WAIT! There is a Lady Gaga world premiere tonight? Okay… I’m awake.

I just hate how I am watching it in real-time and can’t fast forward through commercials…lol

RESULTS TIME!!!!

Remember that Mitchell couldnt dance last night and is automatically up for elimination.

Up come our first 3 couples to hear their fate. Melanie & Marko, they danced last night to a Travis Wall contemporary routine. Nigel even mentioned that this could be the first Emmy nominated routine. And…. America agreed because they were safe. Missy and Wadi, they danced to a Sean Cheesman Jazz routine.  The judges were on fire about them. They were pretty impressive. And America kept them safe!Iveta and Nick, performed a Jason Gilkinson Quick Step routine. They too…. were on fire. And Iveta and Nick are safe as well!

 The second group is up. Ashley and Chris performed a Christopher Scott Hip Hop routine and Jordan and Tadd did the Sean Cheesman African Jazz routine last night.  The first couple in the bottom 3 is Jordan and Tadd….. WTF?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, is it because their routine was black? lmbo! j/k. What are these people thinking.Caitlynn danced to a Sanya Tayeh Jazz routine. Remember Mitchell Kelly was supposed to dance with her but Season 7 Robert jumped in. Clarice and Jess put on a hell of a show with a Tyce Diorio Broadway routine, but America put them in the bottom 3.

Here with Loose Control is Keri Hilson. I am watching one of Keri’s dancers on the right side of the screen, up front on the floor, and all I can think is… ummm honey, you can’t dance. You do know that this is SYTYCD, right. I mean, these backup dancers are doing some of the simplest dance moves… that is almost an insult to the show that they are on. That is like an artist going on American Idol and lip syncing. I know I am supposed to focus on Keri… but this is not a vocal show… just know that these weak @$$ dancers behind her are blowing me. They all look tired and they just got to the second chorus.  There wasnt much technique, there was wobbly unison sections… and just overall horrible choreography. BUT…. Keri sounded wonderful. And I swear Cat just called her Kelly Hilson and then corrected herself and said Keri. Just saying…. I heard you.

Okay, back to the couples. Ryan and Ricky performed a Christopher Scott Lyrical Hip Hop routine and America gave them permission to perform another week. Miranda and Robert performed a Jason Gilkinson Jive. Sasha and Alexander danced a Travis Wall contemporary piece last night… and I don’t know what America will think… but I will STOP watching this show if they get put up for elimination. America says that Miranda and Robert must dance for their lives and the dance gods heard my silent prayers and saved Sasha and Alexander.

Now it is time for a special guest.  Gennadi Saveliev, the co-founder of Youth America Grand Prix which is the world’s largest student ballet scholarship program, will be performing to the Yuri Silantievs Orchestra’s Go Pak . Cat even said that this is how the GoPak was supposed to be done. As I watch this… I can only go back to Season 4 where Josh and tWitch did a similar routine in the finale. Wow… that was a short routine.

Mitchell is performing his solo performance to John Mayer’s Say. How perfect for him to perform to this song as the lyrics tell him to say what he needs to say without saying it, but rather say it by letting his choreography do it for him.  Jordan steps up to perform to Nadia Oh’s Hot Like Wow, and I must say that I am not all that impressed by her choreography. It is saturated with her leg extension/pirouette combo, but at what point will her own stuff pull away from a burlesque type feel and execute something different? I mean, it is hot like usual, but it didn’t scream “I am dancing for my life”.  Up next is Tadd dancing to the Brian…..Orchestra’s Jump Jive and Wail. BWAHAHAHAH!!! Tadd’s movement and the end made me die laughing! Clarice hits the stage performing to Christina Aguilera’s Glam.  I swear I almost saw a wardrobe malfunction!!!! I don’t know if I would have chosen that song, but then again… I’m not dancing for my life. Jess hits the stage with a Robbie William’s version of Bo Jangles. Dont let that little man fool you…he has leaps for days. However, I wouldn’t have used up valuable seconds standing still to milk the crowd. Miranda performs to Leona Lewis’ powerful voice in First Time I Ever Saw Your Face; superb choice!!! As the crowd “woooos” for Robert, he hits the stage to Omarion’s Electric. I must be honest, I had never heard of this song before, just like I am not all that impressed by Robert’s outfit or choreography.

Flashback…. Lady Gaga makes her TV debut on Season 4 of SYTYCD. And Fast Forward…. Lady Gaga has agreed to come back later in the season and will be a guest judge. is that fair? I know she dances, but..umm… never mind. World premiere of Lady Gaga’s new video The Edge of Glory. I know this is off topic… but I never noticed that her nose was so slim. Also, this breast focusing top is distracting me. Okay, I know that a ton of Lady Gaga fans are going to attack me for saying this… but I am NOT impressed with this video; it doesnt go with the song. Is that how she is on the edge? Maybe the budget was low and she thought that doing an 80’s version of a video would be hot.  Again… I could have missed this premiere. Shoot me if you want… I think that Lady Gaga can do better and has DONE better than this. I love her work but am not a fan of this weak video. And scene.

Back to the dancers.

Mitchell, Tadd, Jess, and Robert are on stage when Nigel asks for Mitchell and Robert to dance again. This has never been done before!!!  I am trying to figure out if Robert did the same choreography… I cannot tell. Mitchell ‘s music starts again and you have to take in all that is the fabulous-ness of his choreography. Now… I am a fan of Robert’s like anyone else is, but IF it came down to the two of them, I would pic Mitchell to stay.

Jordan, Clarice, and step on the stage. Jordan steps up for her critique first.  Nigel mentions that it is a shame that she is in the bottom 3. I agree, but she must step away just from her sex appeal and exercise more of her moves. Clarice is a great dancer and she shouldnt be in the bottom either. Miranda is last to step up for her critique when Nigel calls the guys on stage. I have a feeling that NO ONE is going home. At least I can pray that, right? Nigel says that Jess is magnificent and he shouldnt be in the bottom. Nigel mentions that Tadd is wonderful as well.  Nigel says that Robert has a huge personality and …Wait!  I CALLED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nigel isn’t letting anyone go home this week!!! I CALLED IT!!!!!!!!! *stands in my house and jumps up and down*~ But.. I know he will say this… two couples will go home next week. Yep… I CALLED IT AGAIN!!! I am ecstatic!!! Thanks Nigel!

I know, I know, I know!! I’m a day behind. I had a press conference to attend for my B. Smith’s B.Talented competition yesterday so I couldn’t blog directly after. I promise to do better!

Take 2 in 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, #SYTYCD ?

I am in love with this little black dress that Cat Deeley opened the show with. JUST GORGEOUS!!!! She looks like an innocent rocker chick! Ca—ute!

The dancers are introduced: Ashley, Alexander, Caitlynn, Chris, Clarice, Jess, Iveta, Marko, Jordan, Nick, Melanie, Ricky, Miranda, Robert, Missy, Tadd, Ryan, Wadi, Sasha. And just in case you missed it… Mitchell was not in the line-up because he injured his elbow after his first rehearsal and the doctors advised him to hit this one out. Unfortunately, that means that he is automatically up for elimination tomorrow because he cannot perform. But anyone who puts him up to be eliminated is a punk biiiiiish! Yep, I said it. I’m sure he would have danced with an injury if the doctors hadn’t told him to sit it out so this isnt his fault. Critique those who can dance.

And they also introduced a camera gone awry by showing behind the scenes and nothing at all right before they announced Sasha. lol.I wonder who wont have a job tomorrow. lol. And Cat Deeley’s dance where she was “just giving it a little something” was too funny. Honey.. go to one of these rehearsals and get some rhythm. lol.

Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and Megan Mullally are the judges for the night. Megan has been on Will and Grace in her role of Karen Walker ( LOVED HER!) and many more roles that we love, is the guest judge and has a background in ballet. Who knew?

Jordan Casanova, the Beyoncé Nasty Girl dancer, is up first.  In the few seconds given we find out that :

• She just turned 19 ( Happy Birthday)
• She wants to be a Pussycat Doll ( Cue Robin Antin)
• She can Howl like her dog ( I swear I didn’t make this up!)
• She loves food and her favorite color is blue

Jordan will be paired to dance with b-boy, Tadd Gadduang. We found out that Tadd is :

• 25 years old
• He played a dancing taco in a movie
• Almost died in a Bollywood movie
• Thought he was caucasian growing up ( The name Tadd is ethnically androgynous…though the last name is NOT)
• Cannot ride a bike
• and World Peace

Together, Jordan & Tadd will be dancing African Jazz choreographed by Sean Cheesman. Sean, the choreographer said that the piece will be inspired by the lava of a volcano. Ummm.. come again? I’m sorry for my ignorance, but if I saw lava coming towardsme, the only thing I would be inspired to do would be run. Hence, why I probably wouldn’t have choreographed this piece. lol. Cant wait to see what it looks like. Wait, did I just see Tadd jump , feet first, on to Jordan’s back? Yeh, now I’ve just GOT to see this. Dancing to Afro Celt Sound System‘s Riding the Waves they hit the ground running! The opening is amazing!!!!! WOW!!! The leg handstand switch that she did… just unbelievable! I forgot to write while I was watching! Sean did an amazing job and they did wonderful opening the show! What a great birthday gift to Jordan. Sasha Mallory, one of the Mallory sisters, :

This week, Sasha & Alexander will be performing a contemporary routine crafted by Travis Wall. The theme behind the dance is that Alexander’s conscience is coming back. He’s obviously done some things in a past relationship and it has come back to tear him to shreds the way that Sasha’s character was torn to shreds by his actions. Now, this “Alexander getting hit” montage is freaking hilarious! They performed the dance to Sarah McLachlan’s Stupid, the Mark Bell mix. The opening with Sasha peeking over Alexander’s shoulder sets the mood for the theme of the piece.  AMAZING!!!! There was a twirl that landed Sasha on the ground and Alexander does this move where he pushes he head away from him. BRILLIANT!!! I have chills, people… chills! *rewind* These jumps are phenomenal! Sasha does this angled leap where her left leg ends up over his right shoulder and her right leg is under his left armpit and they twirl….just breath-taking! *rewind* That’s what this piece should be called… *Rewind* because you just have to watch it again. Their faces are so in the moment. There unison is impeccable. And the story of the fight is soooooo painfully beautiful. Unfortunately, I don’t get that she is his conscience, but I do get that he hurt her and now she is turning the tables. DANG!!!! The ending…. Clarice and Jess will be performing a Broadway routine choreographed by Tyce Diorio.  hahahahahahahahah The butt smack that Clarice does to Jess is hilarious! And even Cat says that she “thinks we have our first crush of Season 8” with Jess crushing on Clarice. Sooooo cute. How PERFECT for them to greet the crowd with Liza Minnelli’s Me and My Baby! The first thing you notice if Clarice’s outstanding outfit! I need to hit the gym. WOW!!! The pirouette that Jess did that looked like it should have been done by an ice skater on ice. But their technique is beautiful in this routine! I LOVE IT! Ryan Ramirez is:

Ryan and Ricky will perform a Lyrical Hip Hop routine choreographed by Christopher Scott of LXD. I GET A CHILL IN MY GUT EVERY TIME I HEAR LXD! To say I am a fan is an understatement. Chris says that this is a love story where Ricky imagines that Ryan is there but she isn’t. If they do this correctly… Chris’ choreography is always phenomenal. Awwww, Ricky said, “It’s not hard for me to pretend that I am in love with Ryan; she’s beautiful.” The tempo pops out of the television speakers to the rhythm of a high hat snare combo as Ryan and Ricky begin to move to Lighthouse Family’s Aint No Sunshine. How befitting for the theme of this routine. I mean, already you can see the LXD flare as only their arms move. I do, however, want Ryan to work more on her upper torso isolations. And I am trying, for the life of me, to understand why she has a smile on her face. It threw me for a loop on the rewind. I guess I am left because just the style of Hip Hop, alone, it is seldom that you ever see smiling. It is too gritty to smile.This outine seems more Ricky heavy and Ryan’s walk aways or transitions are poorly executed or seems out-of-place. I could be wrong… but it brought a disconnect. And YES!!!! Caitlynn and Mitchell will perform a Sanya Tayeh routine in the style of Jazz. Sanya says that the routine is based on the idea of what we can accomplish without fear. They will need confidence, aggression, fire and fight. UGH! I swear the universe is speaking to me right now! I wrote in my B.Talented~So You Think You Can Spit blog entry that the competition I am now a part of would be “more of a competition between my fears and my dreams”. This dance, before they even get to hit the stage… is already speaking to me. Sanya is going to effect me the same way that a Mia Michael’s piece is able to reach the center of my core. I LOVE IT! I am paying attention.  Bwahahahahaha Mitchell said, ” If you have an ugly partner….whew…. I feel sorry for you.” bwahahahaha. But, as we found out earlier…. Mitchell has hurt his elbow and will be replaced in the routine by Season 7’s Robert.  La Roux’s In For The Kill  (Skillrex’s Let’s Get Ravey remix) appears to be a great choice for the overall theme of this routine. But, then again… when have we known Sanya to not pull out some of the best music for the show? WOWZERS (<~Can’t you tell that is one of my fav words) The leap, split, on to the back pirouette was beautiful. It was delicate yet edgy. Sanya is just a genius at masculine femininity; the ugly beauty of dance. She can make you look at something and love the terrible of its reality. Miranda and Robert will perform a Jive routine to Bruno Mars’ Runaway Baby choreographed by Jason Gilkinson. The theme of the dance is the age-old story of a guy wanting a girl who is totally out of his league but tries anyway. The outfits, from the jump, are right up Bruno Mars’ alley and I havent even seen them move yet. Just wonderful! My first critique would be for Robert to watch his mouth and not to mouth the words unless it is a part of the routine.  As I watch it, the story is somewhat lost because they are together so much, so it almost seems like he CAN get the girl. But I guess it has to deal with the style of the Jive that you must be in close proximity to one another. Di Robert just pull out a MJ move in the middle?  My ONLY problem with Robert is that he broadcasts his hottest moves before he does them. He could stand a little more technique… but all in all… it was a good routine. I am just happy that he caught her at the end. I mean, he was one inch away from her face landing in his crotch region and risking the show’s family image…lol. Mary’s version of the “woooooo”… ummm *side eye* ummmm.. yeh.Megan said that Robert is her “top 20 crush”.1-888-TEMP-06 (1-888-836-7601) or TEXT 6 to 83676.

Missy and Wadi will be performing to Lady Gaga’s Judas (Rehab Remix) in a Jazz routine choreographed by Sean Cheesman. The concept of this routine is that Pandora’s box has just been opened and what is revealed is the demon clones of themselves. Sean says that he wants sexy demons….lol. hahahaha Wadi accidentally grabbed Missy’s boob…hahahaha I swear this show is full of accidental comedy!  The red-lit boxes on stage just screams anti-angelic. Okay, first off I think I was trying to pay too much attention to them both at the same time in their individual boxes. I caught a few off beat movements, some movements that didn’t match, and then I spotted the foot kick to the back of the heel that Travis Wall used earlier in Sasha and Alexander’s routine… ummmm choreographers, it’s becoming a bit cliché! Just saying….don’t shoot the messenger. I hate to say this, and people may get upset with me…. but this routine is moving a tad bit too slowly for me. It is almost as if they are counting in their heads and waiting for the setup of the next move. Now I am a Wadi fan…. so I have to be honest about his performance and not sugar coat it. The routine didnt get hot for me until the epileptic light flashing part towards the end. Man, I hope they dont end up in the bottom 3 tomorrow. Ummm, I can’t agree with Nigel. He said that this was Sean Cheesman’s best work ever. Ummm, NOT! But then again, I’m not a professional, but I am a part of the voting public. Just saying, again.  Snap! Melanie Moore is:

Melanie and Marko will be performing to  Ingrid Michaelson’s Turn to Stone in a Contemporary piece designed by Travis Wall. The theme is that they are two statues that come to life at night and the goal is for them to come together as one statute, one piece of art. I must say, the opening picture of the two of them on stage is breath-taking. The look like real statues before a note is even played. THIS is EMMY AWARD WINNING right here. Yep… I said it….. and I guess now I can take the DVR off of pause and actually watch the dance, huh? But this picture could be ripped right off the screen and put in a frame as a work of art. Them being all covered in white with white Greek inspired clothing is just beautiful. Okay… shutting up and pressing play. Wow, during the first lift, Melanie was so stiff and did not move a muscle, even when he placed her down she was statue like. And once on the ground he dropped her arm and it was almost frightening, as if i were watching a real statue come to life. AMAZING!!!!! The way the lighting change, the tempo picked up and they exploded into movement as if they were not grafted by marble or any other stone! The dancers’ technique is unmistakably brilliant, the choreography is impeccable, and the collision between the two is live art. And the ending pose…* Screams “Sexual Chocolate” & drops mic, like in Coming to America*

The judges just gave them both a standing ovation along with the rest of the crowd. I, too, have NOTHING, bad to say about this routine. Even Nigel said this could be the first Emmy nominated routine of the season. I told you so! *Sticks out tongue*.1-888-TEMP-08 (1-888-836-7601) or TEXT 8 to 83676.

Ashley and Chris will perform a Christopher Scott’s Hip Hop routine. The theme is that they are a couple who finds out that they are cheating on each other. Strangely enough…. Ashley reminds me of Comfort in this rehearsal footage. What? I’m just saying. Aren’t I allowed to have an opinion? Chris actually has a genuine moment during rehearsals where he recalls a moment in his life where he actually was cheated on. I hope that he is able to channel in that energy and make it pop on stage….and what better way to do that than to perform to Cee Lo Green’s infamous Forget You (generously titled for PG friendly audiences….I’ll hum the original version, thank you very much).  Okay, bare stage… nothing, zip, zilch, nada. And then they walk on from either side of the stage with “I Cant Stay Faithful” paraphernalia. I think that the opening could have started just a liiiiiiiitle bit sooner than it did. And once it did, oh boy! The foot work…..There was no Justin, No J.C. Chasez in sight. In other words, it was not in sync. And some of the transitions were not all that cohesive. WAIT!!! Did they just do the wheel chair move that Nigel did during the Auditions?  And I was so busy trying to wonder what the name of the dance was that I didn’t look at the rest of the dance. But I did notice that they were late to get to one another at the end. Oh snap, the name of the dance is called the Cat Daddy!1-888-TEMP-09 (1-888-836-7601) or TEXT 9 to 83676.

Iveta Luskoslute is:

Iveta will be paired with tap dancer, Nick Young. Nick is:

• hahahahahah Nick didn’t get much out other than his name and that he has a fun personality.

 Iveta and Nick will close out the night for us with a Ballroom routine choreographed by Jason Gilkinson in the style of a Quick Step. Wait….what was the theme of this routine? Is there not one? Why the table? Hello, Jason, I like to know these things before I give a critique! Okay, what I do know is that they will be performing to Sweet’s Ballroom Blitz.  I love Nick’s carriage. For this to be new to him, his frame doesn’t seem to be wavering much. I love Iveta’s look. She looks as if she could fit beautifully into the 1920s. The song, however, with its screaming “It’s the ballroom blitz” was a bit distracting to me. But… it is what it is.1-888-TEMP-10 (1-888-836-7601) or TEXT 10 to 83676.

Okay…. I am running late for work and I meant to watch this last night….. but I was extremely tired. SO, please forgive me for not having this ready for you. I will be sure to watch it from my DVR when I get home and catch you up to date on it all. I KNOW you want to know who the top 20 are!!!!!! Stay Tuned.

Take 2 in 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, #SYTYCD ?

So, Cat just announced that this season was going to be a tab bit different. As the top 20 are revealed they will perform live to 9 different group routines. I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( Technically, I did because I am late, but you catch my drift).

The judges are Robin Antin, Lil’ C, Tyce Diorio, Mary Murphy, and Nigel Lythgoe.  The top 10 guys and the top 10 girls are well on their way of showing America that they think they can dance.

The first person to go in was contemporary dancer Ricky Jamie ( Salt Lake City, UT) .  He said that Vegas was great for him because he learned a lot just as it was hard to see new friends come and leave. But he made it to the TOP! Next was another contemporary dancer Miranda Maleski. Just the fact that they didnt do an interview for her makes me fear that she isnt going to make it.  I HATE HOW THEY SIKED ME OUT!!! She made it. Melanie Moore (Atlanta, GA) made it as well.  Abigail Russe followed the first 3 to enter….. Just the clip that they keep showing of her while dancing is enough to make you pay attention to her. But unfortunately, she did not make it to the top 20. Nor did Katie M.

Now the Mallory sisters make their way in for judgement….together. I still feel some kind of way about them doing everything together. I mean, I get it, they’re sisters, but at what point will they be made to stand on their own? Maybe I am over thinking this. And Nigel announces that only one of them  will make it to top 20 and it was Sasha. I mean, Natalia was awesome… I wonder if SYTYCD will ever let a thicker person on or was it really note based on her body image.

Group 1 Performance:  (Sasha Mallory, Ricky Jamie, Melanie Moore, and Miranda Maleski performing to a Stacey Tookey routine to The Irrepressibles’ “In This Shirt”)  When I tell you that just the frozen image of them behind Cat Deeley as she introduced them was captivating enough to know that the dance would be amazing. The way that Ricky picked up Sasha was rough yet had a caressing touch to it just the same.  They are in unison with equal technical skills and execution that made them perfect for the opening routine. They seem out of this world!!! FABULOUS!!!!!! And Natalia was in the audience supporting her sister.

Up Next…. Hip Hop. Who will make the group out of the 7 that were left standing at the end of Vegas’ Hell Week? Chris Cole was up first and this was his second time making it to the end of the week. And this year…. 2nd time’s a charm! Wadi Jones and Taad made it to the Top 20 as well. I knew that Wadi was… I wasnt going to watch the show if he didnt. Virgil ” Lil O” is up…. and wow… I am hoping he makes it through too. But… Nigel just said that he will not make it to the top 20, nor did Dress Reid. It is down to Professor Bryce and Robert Taylor Jr. I am stuck on who I want to win over the other. I pray that they can take them both!!!! Bryce is just sexy…. yeh, he can get it!!!  NOOOOOOOOOO Bryce didnt make it!!!! But Robert did. I uess it was because I said that Bryce could get it. lol.  But congrats to them all anyway.

Group 2 Performance: (Chris Cole, Wadi Jones, Taad, and Robert Taylor Jr. performing to a Dave Scott routine to Swizz Beatz ft Eve’s “Everyday [Coolin’]”) The opening with the lone dancer, Chris, there wasnt all that impressive. I wasnt into the routine until Robert came out looking like a cross between Bentley & Urkel. His part caught my attention and said…. WATCH ME! The unison part was a tad bit static and I think it was Taad in the back who looked like he fell out of his kick stand. I found myself paying more attention to the red hat that got kicked off the stage than the routine. Sorry, but its true. OUCH!!!! They are all on their own count right now! Where is the unison!!!! Oh that was SOOOOOO hard to watch. Can people be honest with themselves and say that this needed more work. The hip thrust was TERRIBLE!!! it wasnt sexy or street enough. These judges better be honest! At least Lil C‘ used Bryce’s phrase of “indubitably”. But… these judges are being nice on this first round. I hate it already.  No Dave’s choreography was on point… but I cringed at their execution.  Now, they all have character…but they need work.

On to the Ballroom Dancers… Lenny was up first and he did NOT make the top 20. Iveta came up next and this is her 3rd time to make it. Wow, by the way that Mary Murphy is crying is a sign that she has made it to the top 20. I was tricked for a moment there. lol.

Group 3 Performance: ( Iveta performing a Jason Gilkinson routine to Jennifer Lopez ft Pitbull’s”Ven a Bailar [On the Floor]”   with guest partner Season 3’s Paasha) How fitting for her to dance to “dance on the floor”. Her stature and frame is on point. I mean wow!!!!! I can’t tell if Paasha is making her look good or the other way around. But I dont see a simple flaw with her.  It is entertaining and eye capturing. She is seductive in the right tone, unlike her police outfit during Vegas week. And her floor drop and spin at the end….. FANTASTIC!

JAZZ DANCERS!!!!!! Clarice Ordaz and Bridget are holding on to each other in the holding room. Clarice is up first and she made it!!!!!! And Bridget did not make it, I pray that she make sit back next year. Tykwon didnt make it either. Marko takes the green mile walk to find out if he is next.  MARKO MADE IT!!!!!!! Like DUH! Jordan Casanova ( Beyoncé’s Nasty Girl) and Missy are the two sexy divas who are fierce jazz dancers up on the chopping block. Jordan and her powerful presence MADE IT!!!!!!! Missy made it too!!!!

Group 4 Performance: (Clarice Ordaz, Marko Germar, Jordan Casanova, and Missy Morelli performing a Sonya Tayeh routine to Steed Lord’s “Vanguardian”)  The stance of the three girls in the opening and Marko’s entrance captured me from the beginning. HOLD THE HELL UP!! Did Marko just jump over ALL THREE LADIES as they did a back bend? FLAWLESS AND CAPTIVATING!!!!!! *REWIND* Yep, he did it. The rhythm of the song came across ast static and would suggest mimic movement, but the floetic precision that they are giving has me captivated!!! I simply love it! The choreography goes perfect with their skill level and the attire ties in beautifully. I likey! Even their unison parts are together and truly on unison. These piece looks like something right our of a Wes Craven film. I LOVE IT! The ending….. powerful and speechless! She was able to bring the edge to the piece without taking away their feminine softness. WAIT!!!! Sonya has hair this season?!!!!!!! And she still looks freaking gorgeous as well as her beautiful choreography!

Tappers!!!!! Nick Young and Jess Leprotto are up next. Jess is up first.  Strong in his broadway style he is a tad bit arrogant and that is what Nigel mentioned. YET HE JUST MADE IT INTO TOP 20. Nick is up next. Fingers crossed! Uncrosses fingers to clap for NICK!!! He made it!

Group 5 Performance: (Nick Young and Jess Leprotto performing a Christopher Scott routine to Nina Simone’s “Funkier Than A Mosquito’s Tweeter”)  Just the wonderful juxtaposition between the visual of Nick and that of Jess… was enough to tell a story with the TV on mute. This was going to be great! Nick in a rough street influenced attire and Jess in a more broadway tux circa 1920s ( something probably worn by the Nicholas Brothers) attire looked amazing. Nick appears to be a tapping peddler and Jess more professional…and I mean this as in these are the characters that they are playing, both of which are beautifully executed. Wow! The split slide through that Jess did between Nick’s leg reminded me of a move that Gregory Hines ( God rest his talented soul) and Savion Glover would do. This entire routine takes me back to the hours I would spend in tap class or the even longer hours I would watch the movie TAP! It almost seem like an Abbot and Costello routine set to tap! Now, if two dancers can transport you back to another time or make you feel something as you watch them… then they have more than talent, they have a gift! P.S. Christopher Scott is fine… and he can get it.

Isnt it time to pick some more girls? Up first Caitlyn Lawson; Nigel’s favorite. And of course she has made it.  Ashley Rich made it too. Ryan and Alexa are the last two girls.  But first….. Mitchell Kelly made it to the top 20. ATL STAND UP!!!!!. Now there is only one spot for Alexander or Jeremiah. If you recall, Jeremiah was the one who Mia eliminated last year for pouting. Will this be his year? They both walk into the judges together. WOW!! Alexander made it into the top 20. I think that Jeremiah should have found the news out on his own. WOW!. Now on to the ladies; one spot left.  Alexa is NOT in the top…. and 2nd time around worked for Ryan.

Group 6 Performance: ( Caitlynn Lawson, Ashley Rich, Mitchell Kelly, Ryan Ramirez, and Alexander Fost performing a Travis Wall routine to Passion Pit’s “Moth Wings”)  An empty stage drew in my curiosity immediately. Ryan’s roll and glide across the floor was stunning. It made me immediately wonder why everyone else had on white and she was in all black. Hmmm, black swan, maybe? I do, however have to say that I am not really impressed by this choreography. Stab me if you wish, but there is so much going on and seldom in unison or in close proximity that I have no clue where to look. And so much floor routine that sometimes the dancers look like they are half-assing it rather than full-out. I don’t know who to blame, the dancers or the choreographer. I mean, were the flowers all that damn important? Okay… they got better with unison at the end. It was beautiful to watch… visually…. but the rest of it was too much.

Group 7 Performance: (All top 10 guys dance Hip Hop choreographed by Christopher Scott which was taken from LXD (check it out o HULU… I LOVE IT!) performed to Nathan Lanier’s “Velocity”) They had me! The moment that they announced that it was going to be a sequel to last years finale… but I was hooked the minute that they said it was going to be an LXD experience. I am an EXTREME LXD fan. I don’t think that you understand…. I mean, I am addicted to it. So, if any of these top 10 guys ruins my LXD experience….. I’m hunting them down myself.! Now, the red doors… You wouldn’t get it unless you watched LXD, but yeh.. HOT!!!!! AMAZING how the contemporary got infused in there… just.. yeh.. just ….wonderful.  *STANDING O IN MY HOUSE*!!!!! I agree with Lil’ C… these guys looked like they came right out of the series. I applaud them! You have now been introduced to the LXD!

Group 8 Performance: ( All top 10 girls dance to a Sonya Tayeh routine to Chonique Sneed & Lisette Bustamante’s “Pop Drop & Roll” ) I love how Sonya wanted to make a geisha girl creepy! Just the thought is amazing! I LOVE her… Sonya that is!  The opening… creepy yet gorgeous. The oxymoronic style of Sonya is in full effect and I am in love! The unison of the opening did not detract, I think it added to the creepiness of it all. Their transitions are flawless. And I hate to keep mentioning Sonya while they dance, but she is speaking through these dancers. Her mannerisms are yelling in every arm movement and head roll… those are just some of her signatures. I think for these girls to pick up on her mannerisms and stay true to her style, yet somehow manage to execute it with their own flare, is a sign of a magnificent dancer. Just BRILLIANT! And even Lil ‘ C said that these dancers are the epitome of Sonya.

Group 9 Performance: (All Top 20 dancers performing a piece choreographed by Lord only knows b.c Cat didnt say….lol.  to Annie Lennox’s “Little Bird”) I must admit, the opening looked like something right out of a Mia Michaels’ book of choreography. I caught Sasha with her spiked hair, and Marko is amazing in this. The unison is seriously in unison…. it is as if they are already a family.  WOW!!!! Those LEAPS that were semi basket tosses across the stage!!! I must say my heart fell out of my chest! They were high, yet floetic…….just amazing!

SYTYCD~ HELL WEEK!

Episode 1: Auditions (UT & NY)

In short I am running on 8 hours of sleep in the past 72 hours, don’t ask, but nothing… and I mean NOTHING will keep me away from watching the top 20 dancers make the cut. I already call dibs on China Lee Smith.

Now, I am probably going to get home around midnight and then I have to watch 2 hours and blog about it so this probably wont go up until sometime around 2:30am. Seeeeeeeeee what I do for you all. I suffer so that you can catch up on stuff that is important in the world. lol. So, as I nod off here in my office at work……know that I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Take 2 in 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, #SYTYCD ?

It is now 12:30am and I have avoided Twitter and FB for the past 4 hours. I have not been tainted by the news feeds and timelines. I can watch my DVR without anyone else’s opinion. So…what happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but some who Dance in Vegas wont necessarily stay in Vegas.

SO apparently the auditions are happening at

Judges: Robin Antin, Adam Shankman, Debbie Allen, Tyce Diorio, Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe

Hip Hop, Broadway, Ballroom, Group round and Contemporary are the 5 choreography rounds that these contestants must endure…. but not before their solo routines. The chopping board is out and the knife is sharp. Lets see who makes this round.

Iveta Lukisute (30, New York City, NY) – Ummm okay so she did ballroom at her NY audition but then she shoes up in Vegas wearing a stripper’s ill-fitting police costume? Ummmmm…yeh… ummmm.  Her legs are GORGEOUS!!! Isnt she dancing to Queen Latifah’s song from Chicago? You know the “mama’s good to you” song.  Did she just toss her ass up in the air? The crowd goes wild, Debbie Allen goes “WHOA” and Nigel’s eyes almost pop out his face. FUnny… Mary covers Nigel’s face. Now, and this is just my opinion, I think she was more worried about impressing Nigel than she was with actually dancing. I didn’t see much choreography than I did burlesque. There is nothing wrong with Burlesque, as RObin Antin would tell you, but this isn’t called So You Think You Can Burlesque. I’m just saying…. And the other guy in the audience who said he wished he was in handcuffs right now…..lol… hilarious. Yet, she survived the solo round

Marlon Petayo (25; Los Angeles, CA)– What is this?Night of the interesting costume? I thought this was about who can dance and not who can shop the best! Focus people… focus. And you don’t have to focus on this space ship looking deal he has on.. because it is giving me a headache. And is he dancing to Nicki Hoenaj? Bwahahahahaah Debbie Allen shook her head “no” in the middle of his piece.  Wow… people were making horrible faces while he danced. Yeh, I don’t think that he will make it to far. And he got cut. Thank you JESUS!

Wadi Jones (24; Ossining, NY)- I wonder what the origin of his name is…. *Googles* Okay, so it means calm and peaceful in an African language… and valley in Arabic…niiiice *Fabolous voice* His intro was flawless, even Debbie had to say “Oh, he’s a REAL B-boy.”  He just did what I like to call the “Russian Run” that Josh and tWitch did in Season 4, the low squat/knee drag kind of run. Awesome! Just fabulous! He survived the solo round.

Sasha & Natalia Mallory (23 & 18; Bakersfield, CA)-  If you recall Sasha is the more petite sister and Natalia is the younger sister. I am still confused as to why they would choose to perform together in Vegas. It seems, to me, that they rely so heavily on one another that I have no clue how they perform as solo artists. Hmmmm…. Okay, I’m watching. I mean… they were fierce. It did look like Natalia may have hesitated in a few parts but I am unsure if it was apart of the routine or not,but overall I loved the performance. I wish I knew what song they were dancing to.  But they made it past the solo round.

As it stands, 114 dancers made it safely past the solo round… the rest, well…they went home early.  Now, on to the choreography rounds.

Hip Hop:

choreographed by Tabitha & Napoleon Dumo to Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now”

China is cracking under pressure and Wadi Jones has developed pain in his legs as the first injury of the audition rounds. I find it somewhat funny how they yelled “first injury”….emphasis on FIRST.

China Lee Smith ( ; Pocatello, ID)– Ummm… did she just say she was a “krumping tornado”? bwahahahahah And Cat said she was Buck. I am gonna need them to stop using hip hop terms on a whim. But she goes up with the first group and whoa….she is NOT looking good. Okay, so we found a weak spot…. I think they can look past this because she rocks in everything else…. I think . My vote is still with her. Wait… did Nigel just say, “What the fuck is she doing?” wowzers! *wipes forehead* she gets another chance to relearn the routine. Hope that she can get it.

WOW!!! They are not picking up the choreography at all. I mea, I think a lot of these people are just natural dancers and seldom have many of them been taught how to pick up choreography. Many have just made it up and learned it over time, but it is a skill set to watch someone else , pick it up,and memorize it and be able to perform it perfectly.

SNAP! They just let Hero McRae and Patty Ann Miller go! Remember them? Check out my LA Auditions blog above. WOW!!! They both were good. The Irish dancer Mary Kate, Kristin Dobson, and Princess Lockerooo all got sent home. But Wadi, leg cramps and all… HE ROCKED THIS ROUTINE!!!! Okay, so he is my vote for the Hip Hop dancers. The Mallory sisters made it through the Hip Hop round.  Now, Iveta and China have a second chance…. fingers crossed. From the looks of it… Iveta isn’t, now if China can stick with it…she looks so much better this second round. They both got to move on to the next round. Day 1 completed.

Broadway:

Jessica , Virgil ( the great b-boy), Jordan ( danced to Beyoncé’s Nasty Girl  in her hometown audition), Wadi, the Mallory sisters, China, Jetson, DC Chapman, and Robert Taylor Jr ALL got moved on to the next round. I told you… I am calling it!!!

Rebecca & Jeremiah– Rebecca has been to Vegas 4 times and Jeremiah has been to Vegas and blanked during Mia Michael’s routine and was cut shortly after throwing a temper tantrum that time. This time, Jeremiah made it through, but Rebecca didn’t. Wow!!!! I didn’t think that she was that bad… but then again, my name isn’t Debbie Allen.

Ballroom (Jive)

Natalia Mallory– I must say, I get the concern … but Tyce….he almost made me want to punch him in his friggin throat for the WAY he asked how was her partner going to pick her up. Picking her up is possible… but he made it seem like the girl weighed 800 pounds and her partner was the size of Ashley Olsen. THIS is why Natalia must keep dancing, for everyone who asks these questions before allowing their doubts to be put to rest. Now, if you will, Tyce… go sit on a ballet shoe, pointe side up! Okay, so they got another chance if she can get a stronger partner to lift her up.  Oh wait.. I saw how it was suppose to look at the end. Okay, I now understand it. She was now paired up with Professor Bryce. I LOVE ITY!!!! I am still vying for her.  And she made it! Love love the Professor for helping her! She deserved every bit of her applause.

Sasha Mallory made it through with everyone else. And now Alexis Mason is up…. pressure,, pressure, pressure. Ummm… Tyce said that she was missing the “flare” and she almost fell at the end and her partner almost tumbled on top of her. Now Alexis must dance for her life with a solo piece.

It is now 2am and I am JUST now getting to the group rounds. I may have to turn down my date and take a rain check just so I can come home and sleep. I hope you know that this blog will NOT be proof read. Too tired to do much else. But I had to report back.

Alexis Mason (18; Miami, FL)- She started off one beat behind… not sure if that once intentional for this contemporary piece. She does this thing with her face that is almost like she is sad or crying…. I think they warned her about her face before. And I HATE repetitive gestures… she does this thing where she keeps reaching out to the air and fan-grabbing her fingers with a slow pull back into herself… HATE IT! Pick another gesture,will ya? But her technique is crisp and you can see it…. I agree with Tyce, there needs to be a little more maturity there. Yep… Nigel called out her “angst” face and he gave her a no.  Mary agreed with Nigel but gave her a yes. Tyce said yes. Debbie said yes…. she received the 3 yeses from the judges she needed to move on to the next round. But I do wonder if they are comparing her to her sister.

Group Round

WOW! Just to see how well everyone started off in harmony to choreograph these group pieces was amazing. But to watch them snap by morning… blame in on the absence of sleep being cradled by th fear of being sent home due to weak group choreo. No one should take this personally…well, in general. Natalia is breaking under pressure and her group is left to wait.

Group 1 (Bridget C, Caitlyn L, Ricky J, Clarice O & Wadi)-  I LOVED IT! It came straight from a broadway musical. FOSSE!!!What I loved most about it is that everyone’s strengths were given an opportunity to shine. You could see the contemporary flare of the four dancers, and the delicate and sensual side of the ladies as well as the masculine side of the guy, but Wadi was given a spotlight that allowed him to be who he was within the piece and the harmony was amazing!

After all of the work, only 7 people were cut and now Natalia must go on with her group.

Natalia’s Group( Natalia, DC Chapman, Arielle C, Dashi Mitchell, Jordan Cassanova) – I hear DC’s point when it comes to him fighting for his voice within the routine. I think that you should fight for your place… but there was a better and more mature way to do so and it shouldnt have taken half an hour. Now, as they dance to Bruno Mars’ Grenade I must say, I am not all that impressed with the choreography.It is choppy, basic and elementary….and it is all over the place.  Now, it does have its good parts.. but I wish that they were more in sync. Okay, the judges think differently than I do. Of course….they moved on to the next round.

Contemporary:

Choreographed by Travis Wall (?) and assisted by  Season 3 Jamie & Season 7 Robert

One dancer, Ryan, gets injured and has to go to the hospital to get an x-ray on her tailbone….and Natalia is, not too long thereafter, headed to the hospital behind her.  Sasha has been paired with Professor Bryce and I know that she is going to rock it.  First off.. this choreography is GORGEOUS!!! Yay Travis! Genius! And Sasha & Bryce made it to the next round. Robert Taylor Jr, Wadi Jones, and Milo made it to the next round. Ryan gets cleared from the doctors and she wants to risk dancing in this round….and she makes it for the next round.

YIKES! DC Chapman doesn’t have much.. if any contemporary training. it is sooooooo hard to watch.  And it hurt my heart to watch him fight and say that ” I can’t go home”.  I applaud Debbie for going in on him and making him man up.  And the way that the rest of the dancers chanted his name as he left was amazing.  NOOOOOOOO! China was sent home. Arielle was declined for a 5th year and was sent home. Jeremiah was moved on to the next round.

Natalia got a free pass through contemporary because she just found out at the hospital that she has diabetes, so it wasnt anything that she could control.  She has been cleared to dance in this solo round. Clarice Ordaz (19; Whittier, CA) got a chance to show the judges what she could do as the solo round continued…..and boy… did she have something to show!

How many of the SAME top in different colors does Alexi Mason have? Just had to ask. but she did not making through.

Sooooo with 31 dancers making it through Hell Week…..who will make the top 20 tomorrow? Stay Tuned! It’s now 2:41am…. I’m headed to bed, and will be back tomorrow at a normal hour.

Well, last night was the season premiere!!! I must tell you that I am on pins and needles just waiting to see who the top 20 will be. I already told you that China Lee Smith (19; Pocatello, ID) better be one of them. I am sure I will grow to love a few more, but she is at the top of my winning list. Tonight promises to be JUST as entertaining as the other. The only thing that I wish is that they would post the title of the songs that these people are dancing to…..that adds to the excitement as well.  So………

Take 2 in 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, #SYTYCD ?

Los Angeles, California

If you know like I know…. LA/Hollywood has been on EVERY single season of the show. I mean… these dancers are like the X-Men mutants of Dancers or LXD. Whoever they are and where ever they come from… I am here to watch.

Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and broadway choreographer, Tyce Diorio are the judges for this round. Did I mention that I have a crush on Tyce? I swear, if Mia Michaels will say my name on air once I can die happy and then kiss Tyce before I die. Just saying!

Jordan Casanova (18, Chino Hills, CA )- performing to Beyonce’s Naughty Girl,  she hit the stage running. I mean, her leg extensions were off the chain! I mean, they were also a tad bit redundant, but…..she worked it. The Split pirouette!!! Phenominal! I didnt see much choreography as I did this aura of “look at m! I’m sexy and I can do beautiful leg extensions.” At one point I thought that Nigel would never stop the music. Tyce ‘s commentary was wonderful and entertaining. But yes, she did border the line of classy and a worker at the Players’ Club trying to make that money and not let the money work her. I think she needs to learn the definition of sensual over sexual. But…. that is just my opinion. I have a feeling that they are going to send her to Vegas, but I could be wrong. *Presses play* And she has the golden ticket.

HOLD UP!!!!! While DC is on the stage giving his pre-dance interview…. the camera flies out to the audience and catches a familiar face…….someone that SYTYCD fans know very well; Stephen “tWitch” Boss. I knew he wouldnt be able to stay away from the Hollywood auditions…lol. Priceless…. just put a smile on my face. Now, if I could just cop that hat he has on…..fly. Wait… is that Comfort from Season 4 behind him?

–Derion “D.C.” Chapman (28; Reseda,Ca) –  And I am getting old because I knew absolutely NOTHING about the “Cat Daddy” dance that was created by the rejects. So, can someone tell me ho wa wheelchair impression has anything to do with the Cat Daddy? I’m lost. But give it a day and it will be here in D.C.  NIGEL!!!! Nigel just did the “Cat Daddy”!!!! Priceless!!! WOW!!!! He personality came through every single movement! His hip hop flare told the story portrayed in the song. And how nice…. Nigel referred back to the time when tWitch did the conducting during his routine in Season 4. What a great compliment that was! And there tWitch is… sitting in the audience cheesing from ear to ear. Well, D.C. better get that golden ticket. If you’re wondering WHICH Season 4 routine Nigel is referring to…well, as an avid fan…I know, I know! I think he is referring to tWitch’s solo routine to Miri Ben-Ari’s We Gonna Win piece. So, you’re welcome…..lol

 

Arielle Coker (21; Los Angeles, CA)–  after being here I think…. 4 times…she is stronger than when we saw her years ago. I love her flexibility. The change in her tempo just captured me. I don’t think that I have ever seen the change in character that she just gave us. She went from lyrical, to hup hop, to jazz, to funk, to sensual to just outstanding! I mean… she will be my 2nd top favorite after China. Wow… she better make top 20!!!. WOW!!!! Golden ticket it is!

Hero McRae (26; Hollywood, CA via Japan)– I am not the smartest person in the world… but I am probably one of the more observant ones. Um…..isnt Hero from the dance group “We Are Hero” from America’s Best Dance Crew Season 4? Werent they dancing then for her grandmother who was sick at the time? Joe “Big C” Doyle (29; Pasadena, CA) Wait… did this nut just say that he is the Claus of Krump “Lil C’s pro-di-cee”? Ummm…..*closes mouth with hand* LMAO! This man said he is from the North Pole and spreads “buckness” cheer all year long to good little boys and girls!!!! This Santa Claus act is about as looney as the Ringo Starr audition the other night. Oddly enough… he can KIND OF krump. But the look on Mary’s face when he stripped his shirt was PRICELESS!!!hahahaha. Mary said, “Make it stop!” lmao! No golden ticket for him. Lawd!

WOW!!!!!!! Nigel called the old black guy in the shiny hat “tWitch’s uncle” lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have soooooo many jokes for that but I will keep them to myself. But these rejects need to get out of their feelings.

Alexis Mason (18; Miami, FL)– The sister of Season 5 Winner, Jeanine Mason….she has son BIG Capizios to fill. I almost feel bad for her. I say that because she doesn’t get to be herself… she is living in her siblings shadow. Oh do I know that story too well. I want her to be her without them comparing her. And my DVR is paused right now so I have no clue what they are going to say, but I can already predict it just by the fact that Nigel asked ” and who is your sister?”.My answer would have been…. “it doesn’t matter because I am here under my own right”. A little protest there. But my only critique would have to be her face. SHe is broadcasting emotion that she really isnt feeling and it is coming across as fake. I want to feel that she feels her moves to. Her technique is amazing! Golden Ticket it is!!!

Just spotted Josh, winner of Season 4, in the audience with Jeanine. This is a reunion of seasons past…lol.

Patty Anne Miller (28; Los Angeles, CA)– Said that she is a “Style consultant” which is another way to tell me that she doesnt have a job….lol. But this hip hop routine better be on point.  LOVE IT!!!!! The opening was off the chain! I mean I had to check that my DVR wasnt skipping when she was ticking with such precision! And is this a Ke$ha song? Just beautiful! Golden Ticket!

LMAO!!!! Nigel told the joke ” no ballroom” and he said, “Like Tyce’s trousers” lmao!

Natalia & Sasha Mallory (18 & 23; Bakersfield, CA)– Natalia is the younger, thicker sister and Sasha is the older slimmer sister. I hate to use these terms, but for those who watched, you will remember better that way. I almost felt like them dancer together hurt one and helped the other. I wont say which is which, but it did. I feel like the judges eyes didnt know where to go because their spacing was all over the place. Their transitions were walk-tos and not to many movement variations. But, I can say that what they did have in their technique handbag was pretty clean and had some nice lines. I, and this is just my opinion, think that they will take one….and even that one may need to swing through to choreography. Okay, so they both went on to choreography. WOW! Natalia’s partner looked like he had a bit of a problem lifting her up. But…. they BOTH got the golden ticket. I am happy with that.

I wish that this were a 2 hour night! I mean… I want to see more of these talented people! But… I guess I will have to wait until next week. Will you be there? Good.

SYTYCD~ Auditions (UT and NY)

Episode 1: Auditions (UT & NY)

Anyone who knows me knows that I have a personal LONG history with So You Think You Can Dance; havent missed a season. But know this…..once I watched it… I was hooked. And no, I have not tried out myself. Thankfully, I just missed the age cut-off…lol. But I think that this show is a great platform for the world to get a chance to see one of the more talented dancers of America.

I personally think that dancers are the most loved, yet taken for granted, art form. People love the dances they see, but seldom do outsiders know the choreographers, the dancers dancing them, or the hours spent perfecting the years of training wrapped in a skilled 8-count. No, people will mimic it and then move on to rip off the next dancer’s art form. If it isn’t the star dancing by themselves…..people forget, fail to show appreciation to , or get to know…..the dancers. So, in a nutshell….THAT is why I love this show. Well, enough of my banter…..let’s get to the auditions.

Salt Lake City, UT

The judges are Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and Pussycat Dolls creator, Robin Antin. This is going to be great!

China Lee Smith (19;Pocatello,ID)– With her grandparents and mother in the audience this beautiful bombshell just ROCKED this audition. The song that she is dancing to… I WANT TO KNOW WHO SINGS THIS SONG!! The beat captures you and then China makes you watch her. I mean she HOLDS YOUR ATTENTION HOSTAGE!!. She mentioned that her dance was choreographed by someone, but I didn’t get to catch who! She said that her mother danced for the Osmonds…hmmm. Well, I must say, that choreography would have been just sheer movement until China brought it to life with her persona. Words cannot describe her lines, the shapes and passion she brought to this! I mean, she ran the gambit from sexy, to sensual (yes, there is a difference) to feminine and masculine. Just WONDERFUL!!! Nigel loved her, Mary Loved her, and Pussy Cat Doll creator, NAME, loved her. It was safe to predict that she would get a ticket to Las Vegas. THIS is how the show should begin and continue; anything less than this would be a HUGE mistake for this season. I have to say, I’ve rewound my DVR 18 times ( fact) and she still captured me EVERY single time. SHE IS MY FAVORITE OUT OF ALL THE AUDITIONEES TONIGHT! She is the one to watch out for this season. She will have my vote EVERY night. She will be in the TOP 2 unless the Lawd says otherwise, but I am phoning in a favor to Him on her behalf! Lol.

Annie Gratton (19;Phoenix, AZ)-  Her dad may be a dancer but I would have loved to see that. I mean, she came out of the gate running. I don’t think that she stopped one single moment. The pace was set to Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams are Made of These…..and I must say, she was wonderful. I think I just got my wish!!! Father just got on stage to dance together….set to the beat of Black Eyed Peas’ Boom Pow. And her father, Francois Gratton (54, Phoenix, AZ), in jeans, he just hit a split!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn’t have scripted this in my wildest dreams. But her dad very well just assisted her in getting the golden ticket.

All of the girls are beautiful and Utah is bringing in a ton of wonderfully talented females that Robin Antin wants to draft them; almost all of them. She even asked if they could sing and had to protest that she would not steal a few of them….lol. Is this her show or SYTYCD?

Tadd Gadduang (25; West Valley City, UT)– This man has more upper body strength and humor than any hip hop dancer that I have seen on the show; just natural humor. He may need a few more technical skills when it comes to execution, but his personal flare definitely makes you watch him. And you will have your chance when you see him make it to Las Vegas.

LMAO!!!!!!!! Did this dancer just tell Cat Deeley  that he had bruised balls…..”on his feet, of course”. Lmao!!! She is going to pass out from laughing at him. And Dayum…. These dancers are busting their asses, literally on the floor. OUCH!

Samantha Hiller (18; Atherton,CA) – Wow! Did she say that she was suffering from Mono when she was in college, and she is still suffering it while she is auditioning?! WOW!!! But she is going to dance tonight any way. WOW!!! That is an amazing story.  But even in her amnesia state…she can still dance. I mean, some of he forms need to be a little cleaner…. But she really can dance. Wow! And the joke that Nigel just played on her…lol. He pretended like she hadn’t danced yet and she paused for a moment. And she got a chance to move on to choreography. And unfortunately she did not make it.

WOW!!!! Will Wingfield and Katie Shean from Season 4….they taught people the choreography!!!! I love me some Will…. That man can dance his ass off.  Ad the joke that Nigel played onDevon….we can tell Nigel is in a comedic mood this night.

Day 2 in Salt Lake City showed that the Men really did let the ladies go first.

Chase Thomas (22; Provo,UT) Okay, soooo this guy is dancing merely in his undies!!! I mean, WOW!, not much of a package there at ALL. But for some reason all of these women are turned on by him. I mean they are fawning all over him. Even after he told his story of a fiancée cheating and then leaving her to marry a beautiful wife….they are still drooling. But his contemporary piece is beautiful. I mean, I cant tell if Mary is looking at his package or his dance moves…lol. I just think that his lines could be a little cleaner, but his strength is definitely there. And Golden Ticket it is.

Brittany Morgan Starr (26; Salt Lake City,UT)- Did this chick just say that her father is the REAL Ringo Starr from the Beatles. REALLY?! This chick is smoking crack.  Ummmmm…. Did she just admit to Lady Gaga being her twin?! Lmao!!!! I am lost for words. The way she even dressed to perform already let me know that she was setting us up for humor.  Now, it would have been beautiful if she would have gotten up there and blew our socks off, but she should be admitted to a psych ward and be examined. And No, she did not get a golden ticket. And they sent a camera to see her dad. Ummmm… did he have a SELF-made video calling himself Ringo Starr. Wow…. Ummm I think that Ringo & his estate should come back and sue this man…lol.

Samara “Princess Lockerooo” Cohen (24; Brooklyn, NY) – She is performing whacking. I’ve heard of it, but I have not seen it up close. And she says that she is a spy in her routine. I have to watch this again in slow-mo. I mean, her elbows will never get arthritis. Unfortunately, it was a bunch of hype for me without any meat, no substance.  I mean, she did ticking, but there wasn’t much variation. But they liked her so they sent her to Vegas. I think she is the cushioning.

Brandon Jones (26; Brunswick, NJ)- He is dancing to Contemporary Lyrical. I mean… this black man’s lines are off this world’s existing map! And I think he was dancing to Bruno Mars Talking to the Moon. I mean, his technique is just phenomenal! Nothing more to say but give this man a golden ticket!

Brian “Hollow Dreams” Henry (22; Brooklyn, NY)- He’s a krumper. He brass and slightly hanging on the brink of cockey. Lmao!  “Everyone keeps making it but Brooklyn keeps taking it.” Really.  Okay, did this dude just say that “Lil C made it mainstream but he’s taking it back?” Okay, I think that he needs a WHOLE lot work when it comes to his krumping. I mean, his body is NIIIIICE…but This isn’t called “So You Think You Can Workout”. But I’m just saying and that is my opinion. Did he say he Krumps for Christ? Lmao! I’m putting that on a shirt!!!! And I LOVE that Mary put her foot down and told him not to put down other dancers who can before him. I mean, did it ever occur to him that he may have to come in contact with Lil C if he makes it on the show? But yeh, I agree with Mary. At least he got move don to choreography. He seems to be struggling more than a little bit in the choreography round. Ummm…..and the judges say…..he’s going to Vegas!

Mary Kate Sheehan (18; Brooklyn, NY) LMAO!!! I love this “History of Irish Dancing” video, but I did learn something completely new by her explanation of dancing from the waist down to trick the British soldiers. I mean she could out heel-toe the Beat Your Feet Kings with the swiftness of her feet. Wow!! I love that her technique is mixed with traditional Irish and Ballet. She didn’t limit her technique to just one style. She moved beautifully across the stage. Can we say Golden Ticket? But they moved her on to choreography. I think that she did soooo well, for what her partner gave her, but she is going to Vegas!

Okay, so why did that have to show the 18-year-old from Maryland as the first person that Nigel began to hate. OUCH!!!! Who Is the guy that did a back-flip and tore his head up on that floor!!!!!! I mean

Virgil “Lil O” Gadson (23; Philadelphia,PA) – this hip hop dancer BETTER make it to Vegas off the jump. I mean, his style makes you watch him. He isn’t but an inch taller that a grasshopper’s nuts…. But he brings a lot of energy. I do, however thing that there needs to be less pauses between his transitions… but he rocked it. That is all that I have to say! AND HE’S GOING TO VEGAS BABY!!! Wait… did he run off stage doing the Irish dancing? Lmao!

Day 2 of New York

Jess LeProtto (18; Little Falls, NJ)- He looks like he is every bit of his musical theatre major.  But his interview is looking entertaining. I hope that he can dance as well as he is charismatic. Ummm. I mean his lines are cool, not as clean as I would like. But his technique is DEFINITELY there. I mean the seas of pirouettes that he just spun the stage around his pinky toe was amazing! Yes, he can say he is a jazz dancer. Capizo….sign him up! And thy all moved him through to choreography since the judges didn’t feel he connected with his piece. Jess, seemed to Strule with partner work in the choreography segment. And, yet and still… he is going to Vegas!

Kristen Dobson (23; Warren, OH)- a Latin dancer, who did bring the flare that I think they were looking for…..but something is missing. Hmmm, Nigel just asked “Why would you do that?”, when she did a leg extension in the middle of her routine. I want to hear why he asked that. Jason called it, when she danced with her partner she closed off. And Mary said the leg extension was out of character for the style of dance. So….off to choreography she goes.  Although paired with Jess, I think that she still shined! That is why they moved her on to Vegas!

Robert “Wooo Man” Taylor Jr. (30; Brooklyn, NY )-  I mean, he used the same song/beat as China!!! Who sings this song!!!!!!! His technique is entertaining, but it is all standing up, no levels…until the end…and there wasn’t much difficulty of it all. But I do love the fact that he was full of personality. Unfortunately, I don’t think that he will go to Vegas, he needs to work on his technique, and lines…..sadly, this is his last year. But they may move him on to choreography. I stand corrected… they moved him to Vegas.

Well, that was all I can take for one night. This season looks promising. I will be by a television tomorrow for day 2 of auditions!!! Now, I must head to bed because I have to work out tomorrow. God bless!
