Love Toy

by 2Deep

My love is now a donation

Placed on a shelf

Getting catfished by Raggedy Andy

And attending weight watcher meetings with

Hungry, Hungry Hippo

In the kids’ section

Of the Salvation Army

Given away under the pretense that

Someone else will love me as much as you used to

Because someone wanted me once

Until that bitch, Barbie upgraded her convertible

Dear Sakura

You are our Spring’s Ohaiyou Gozaimasu

Peaking around monuments

Greeting the sun

As it climbs from behind the handshake of a District and a Commonwealth

Dipped in a tidal basin

Like a letter in a bottle

Washed upon land

You are a time capsule

A reoccurring memory

A welcoming reminder of a friendship

That deemed us worthy of such beauty Read the rest of this entry »

Anything But Insomnia (Poem)

In Writer's Block on 17 August 2012 at 4:28 pm

Last night, rather this morning, my poetical divas Rebecca Dupas, Shelly Bell, & I were up at the buttcrack of dawn on Twitter. And being the poetical masterminds that we are, we started talking about poetical prompts. The prompts were:

1. I lay awake wondering.

2. Sleep don’t come easy.

3. Counting sheep.

4. 4am.

5. Not until I write.

6. The women who could not sleep.

7. Let’s not call it insomnia.

8. The last time I dreamed.

9. If I close my eyes…

So, off to sleep we eventually went, but woke up this morning with the will to write what we discussed. It is amazing to see the angle that we all took with the same prompt. Below is my take on the situation titled “Anything but Insomnia” . CLICK HERE to get Rebecca Dupas’ version. CLICK HERE for Shelly Bell’s poem.

Oh yeh, if you feel inspired by the prompts….write a poem and put the link in the comment box below so that we can become inspired by your work as well.

He Is (Poem)

In Writer's Block on 2 July 2012 at 4:13 pm

So, usually I dont do love/crush/infatuation poems, but I think it is about time I express my hopeless romantic side and let the universe know how I feel. So I have been crushing on this one particular guy for YEARS!!! When I tell you that he is awesome….. it is not an exaggeration by any stretch of the imagination. Well, I decided to write this poem today because it was begging me to write it.

Sadly enough, I told him that I had a crush on him and got nothing back. If I felt like giving you the details you would offer me a drink. But just because the response to the news was weird doesnt take away from the fact that he is still an awesome person. He can still be an awesome person and not be into me, right? One thing that I did learn from the experience is to not be afraid to express how you feel. I learned how not to shut down just because how you feel about someone was not reciprocated in that immediate moment. In short…. I learned how to love.

@_2Deep_ Poem 8 of 30/30: Age

In Writer's Block on 9 April 2012 at 11:33 am

Poem 1: Safety Net

Poem 2: You

Poem 3: Pain

Poem 4: Zodiac

Poem 5: Pusher

Poem 6: Damn

Poem 7: Difference

Poem 8: Age

So, for those who are in the dark, April is National Poetry Month. As a poet, I participate in the tradition of writing a poem a day for thirty days. Some will be Haikus, some will be mega short, and some will be epic.

I know you are wondering why I am choosing to write so many haikus for 30/30. Well, I hardly ever write haikus and have been using the same ones for like 3 years. I thought that it was about time I step out of my comfort zone and practice writing in such a small and succinct format. I figure if you cant say it in 17 syllables you will bore me with the rest of your 3 minutes. lol. I hope you enjoy.  P.S. Expect different things coming from me. I am on a love spree with my poetry lately. It’s all about stepping out of my box this year.

Age

4/8/12

Poem 8 of 30

(Haiku)

“Age: More than numbers

Yours serves as a testament

Proof of God’s mercy”

Sincerely,

2Deep
